The real reason the laws are still on the books is because of the puritanical assholes...

But why should the laws side with their beliefs as opposed to the beliefs of people from another faith or even atheists.

This is F***ing Bullshit.

1. Liquor laws are state laws.
The more "religious" the state, the more difficult they will be to change.

Ohio recently changed theirs to allow Sunday sales :)

2. Good luck.
The liquor alliances in most states support Blue Laws because its their only day of the week off. Attempting to repeal them for your personal interests will likely meet defeat at the hands of the people who have to work and/or pay payroll on that day.

5. I don't know what the logic is behind it...
I just know that when it was proposed in IN a few years ago the liquor store owners alliance lobied the shit out of it. It was also havily lobied against in OH but the state thought they'd draw more revenue, so they repealed the blue (as one other poster mentioned).

9. Actually, back in the old days they could pick up their mail at the general post office after church
Before the old days (before 1830's) it was delivered on Sunday.

8. I'm totally with you on this
it's time for laws that were structured around everybody either being in church, or discriminated against because they weren't in church to be tossed out.
