A New Haven fireman will testify in Judge Sotomayor's confirmation Hearings
Next week. Heard it on the radio a short time ago. The more the merrier but it does point the direction the republicans are going. I think they should take their cue from their leader Palin and just quit and threaten to sue anyone who asks why.

1. Is this fireman in favor of Sotomayor, or with the republicans?
What is the general point of his testimony?

Thanks! :hi:

4. He's one of the white firefighters in the lawsuit.
He'll be against. The real question is: Exactly what legal expertise does he have?

5. Oh, I get it. Everyone who hasn't won in court is now an expert.
Glad to see only experts are being brought to the table on this one.

Bet I know who this one voted for last November.

6. Actually, he DID win in court...after Sotomayor's ruling was overturned.
...but you're right, he's no expert.

8. He didn't win in her court, so therefore, she isn't qualified. I totally get it now.
What a tool.

13. It's an example of a bad Sotomayor ruling.
It was overturned (and it doesn't make sense to me, either).

It's valid ammunition against her confirmation, but the Repubs are turning it into a show.

7. What legal expertise does David Cone have?
From what I understand, he'll be testifying for the Democrats.
He's just a former MLB pitcher.

10. Very good point. Does he know her personally and is a personal reference?
I have absolutely no idea.

11. She helped settle the baseball strike in '94
Cone must have been a players' union rep or something.

15. Yes, he did...
one of the six "former Mest pitcher" to have done so...AFTER LEAVING the Mets.

17. My most memorable no-hitter involved the Mets
but they were the losing team. Father's Day 1964 (or 5), the Phils beat the Mets, the pitcher (whose name I will not print) threw a no-hitter. I have the radio play of the game. Interesting stuff.

16. Exactly...
As a players' union rep, Cone benefited from one of her rulings.

Ricci did not benefit from one of her rulings.

3. ...because he's an expert on the application of law and the Constitution?
Being on the wrong side of a ruling doesn't exactly qualify one's opinion on a judge. I'm sure there are plenty of guys in jail that don't have a lot of good things to say about their judges, but that doesn't mean those judges are bad.

I didn't know this but according to the leader of the republican party, Barack Obama has never been criticized about anything his entire life. That's truly amazing and you'll only find out stuff like that listening to limbaugh.

Edited on Fri Jul-10-09 12:47 PM by TreasonousBastard
that the only way to get things done is to abolish Congress.

A more useless assemblage of idiocy with such potential for disaster has yet to be created.

21. How can that possibly be relevant?
There are different color firefighters and some were promoted and some were not. I got that from the court decision.

22. If you are a
dumbass, obstructionist member of the Party of NO, its quite relevant. Got to stir up the ole racial pot. However, I hope there is some effort to find out this firefighters expertise in picking judges in cross-x.
