Tens of thousands of South Korean computers set to self-destruct on Friday

SEOUL (BNO NEWS) -- Ten of thousands of virus-contaminated personal computers in South Korea are programmed to "self-destruct" on Friday, government officials warn.

The warning comes after a third consecutive day of cyber attacks against South Korean government websites, taking many of them offline for hours. U.S. government websites, including websites of the White House, the U.S. State Department and the New York Stock Exchange, have experienced similar attacks over the past week. None of them were affected.

Both South Korea and the United States have said they suspect the North Korean government to be behind the cyber attacks.

2. Ok that is a tad more sophisticated than the DNS attack they have
been doing.

Yes, it is possible... but shit, not easy to pull off.

4. home of "fan death syndrome"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fan_death

Fan death is a South Korean urban legend which states that an electric fan, if left running overnight in a closed room, can cause the death of those inside (by suffocation, poisoning, or hypothermia). Fans manufactured and sold in Korea are equipped with a timer switch that turns them off after a set number of minutes, which users are frequently urged to set when going to sleep with a fan on.<1>
