A thread with 55 Recs and 56 Unrecs will look the same as one with 1 rec and 100 unrecs

So if we are going to use the unrec feature now, shouldnt we at least show the number for the unrecs instead of leaving it a <0

I mean, if this is truly just about ensuring that only OP's that are widely admired make the Greatest Page, why is it important to see the score?

4. I imagine the novelty will wear off shortly,

and the recommendations will start reflecting reality. Seems like people are just playing with the new toy right now. Pretty soon, they'll shift to the box it came in and that'll be that...

5. I was kind of thinking about removing the total recs number..

and just showing the +n part. I'm not really sure that the number of recs even matters. Threads aren't sortable by that number, so why show it?
