So, Not Quite Five Months Into Obama's Term, The Republicans Are Beginning Thier Push...
to pin responisibilty on him and Congrerssional Democrats for the poor economy. You know what? I'd almost be willing to concede the point. "Yup it's our fault". But my concession would hinge on how they answer just one question. How responsible were Republicans and George Dubya Bush for what happened on 9/11? You know... Seeing it was 9-months into his first term and all.

I had a nice week, and might be able to share some pics with you. The Great South Bay is in tact and beautiful.

2. It's not patriotic to criticize the president of the United States
And that's what patriotism means to me.

4. Sorry, I am not willing to pin responsibility for the economy on Obama or the Democratic party
That is complete, total, GOP revisionist bullshit. You didn't have to be an economic genius to realize that the economy was spiraling downward during the Bush administration. With their tax cuts for the rich, deregulation, and out-of-control spending combined with two illegal wars, the GOP is almost single-handedly responsible for the shape we're in today.

"almost willing". That's a qualifying and a non-committal statement.

10. I saw that. But the rethugs own this mess. Completely and totally
AFAIC, blaming this on Obama or the Democratic Congress isn't even really a consideration. It should be plainly obvious that it was the rethugs, and their "anything goes" dereglation, exhorbitant spending, and tax-cuts for the wealthy that created this mess. They own it, despite their protests now.

7. If the admin expects to be blamed they should adjust their policies
People will be quick to blame them if they feel theres not enough being done FOR them.

The public sees trillions to banks, then see a measly few dollars extra per week in their paychecks.

Theres a perception game going on, and if the administration continues down their path of catering to Wall street over Main street they will lose that game.

Obama still has some time, but really he needs to understand that the path of recovery he has chosen so far isnt doing much to alleviate the situation for average people, and his advisers seem to have their own agenda.

9. i`m pinning the responsibility on obama to restore the economy
it`s his economy now.it will take more than a few months to change what has been done since 1980 but he may have less than a year to show positive gains in employment and economic growth.

cut taxes(for the rich). In other words, nothing.

18. It began even BEFORE inauguration day --
In December the Repugs were saying the economy was collapsing because Obama had been elected and everyone knew he was going to screw up our country so they were acting as if he already had done so. This was weeks before the inauguration.

14. Why do you think the Media talked down the GOP for those couple of months?
So they could build them back up and not look biased while doing it.....as they are doing now.

...so no... they don't get a concession here.

16. I give Obama a 2-year pass
due to all the Bush disasters he inherited and has to straighten out before moving on. Bush started with a clean slate; Obama was not nearly so fortunate. Anybody who has worked in a large organization knows how difficult it can be to make things happen even without an army of lockstep obstructionists working against you on everything.

17. It's How Their Message Game Works...
Say it often and say it loud, repeat, repeat, repeat. Hopefully it'll stick. The GOOP has been looking for any chance to tarnish the President in hopes of rallying their base. The way they do it is to get on message and stay there...something they haven't been very good at in recent years.

A message is only as good as those wanting to accept it. For those suffering right now or have seen things get worse in recent months, the message could gain legs. But it only works for the rushpublicans if they have solutions or viable alternatives...they have nada but tax cuts and that doesn't do much when you don't have an income.
