Today's racialist incident at the Pennsylvania country club
A summary for those of you no familiar:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/07/08/pool-boots-kids-who-might_n_228013.html

I've seen this type of attitude from people all my life.

"Margarita (the nanny) tell Dylan and Caitlyn to get out of the pool NOW!"

Got to keep those kids as sheltered as possible: gated all white communities, all white private schools, all white country clubs, trust funds ("what? I don't want my child having a job before finishing high school"), elite private colleges and of course all white fraternities and sororities.

When you raise children in that type of environment, one should not be surprised if they react to black people as the "Other".

"Let's go somewhere safe, somewhere far away, with no blacks, no Jews and no gays!"

1. If I had money and kids
I'd give them a trust fund. Why not. The point of working is make money to live off. If you have money already....

2. yup, im hoping my kids can do what they want in life without worrying about work etc
thats what im working towards giving them the opportunity to work if they want, go to school if they want or whatever. I cant see whats wrong with setting up trust funds etc for your kids.

8. The real issue is the cake and eat it too thing.
You are either a private club or a public accommodation. Private clubs are allowed to take in some arbitrary amount of outside business and still retain their private status. This presumably has a legitimate function. For example, the Tri Delt father daughter luncheon, is technically outside business because neither the sorority nor the women are members of the club, but they also have ties to the club.

There is nothing wrong with a private club discriminating; it's the definition of a private club. But when they accept outside business, they have a duty to their membership to make sure that it is not disruptive, and they have a duty to the business customer to provide the agreed upon accommodation without treating them like crap.

You don't rent out the ballroom to the public on the same night as the members' Christmas party. This place screwed up because they didn't reserve special time for their outside business, they tried to have their cake and eat it too.

3. Machine?
I love that song! Now if I could only find it on CD (or iTunes). I'm curious to hear what the rest of their songs are like, being as they are a socially conscious disco band.
