Read the Never-Before-Published Letter From LSD-Inventor Albert Hofmann to Apple CEO Steve Jobs

That Jobs used LSD and values the contribution it made to his thinking is far from unusual in the world of computer technology. Psychedelic drugs have influenced some of America's foremost computer scientists. The history of this connection is well documented in a number of books, the best probably being What the Dormouse Said: How the 60s Counterculture Shaped the Personal Computer, by New York Times technology reporter John Markoff.

6. It would be easier to find if they reprint it
I'm pretty sure it has been out of print for a few years. I bought it several years ago off a clearance table at Books A Million. After I read it, I passed it along to a nephew who is a computer geek, musician, and was going for a journalism degree. Sometimes I wish I had kept it because it is such an interesting read.

Amazon lists is from various sellers in both new and used copies.

8. Pull this out next time somebody badmouths the 60's
I get really sick of threads here suggesting that the 60's people accomplished nothing -- and that then they all turned into Reaganoids and bankrupted the country.

The truth is that 60's thinking has created the world we live in -- but most people who were there and have since become successful are afraid to admit where their creative ideas really came from.

Some day it will be safe to tell the story -- either that or we'll all be old enough not to give a damn. But either way, it'll come out.

17. Heard that on Sixty Minutes
They were doing a segment on LSD years ago.The ad guy who came uo with that jingle said he was tripping when he came up with it.
They also interviewed a major league pitcher who pitched a no hitter in a world series game while tripping.IIRC he also hit 4-4 in the game.
They also interviewed the architect for a mall in LA that is used in movies a LOT.He came up with the design for the mall tripping.
