DUers, You Can Make a Difference for Foreign Widows of U.S. Citizens

My fellow DUers,

Please read through this and act.

This week, the Senate will be discussing Amendment 1428 to finally end the Widow Penalty, a provision in the law that allows the DHS to deport foreign nationals, who were married to U.S. citizens, but were widowed before the final interview. Surprisingly, Senator Orrin Hatch (R) UT introduced the Amendment along with Senators Bill Nelson (D) FL, Kirsten Gillibrand (D) NY, and Robert Menendez (D) NJ.

I'm personally involved in helping a good friend of mine get through this ordeal and I have witnessed, first hand, the effects of this cruel policy.

I urge you all to please contact your Senators and express your desire to put an end to this inhumane practice.
