It seems I have run afoul of Homeland (In)Security

Went to renew my drivers license since it expires next week on my birthday. I'm told that my "citizenship status" has been called into question.
I need to get notarized copies of my original birth certificate(in German), the English translation thereof, the paper from the State Department stating that I am an American CITIZEN by birth, etc. and bring them all in to renew my license.
Except for inconveniencing me, it doesn't do anything for my or anyone else's security.

9. I worry about this too

My pop was American and my mother Portuguese. I was born in Bermuda on a air force base that no longer exists. My original birth certificate was lost long ago and It would be a nightmare trying to find another copy somewhere. I do have copies of my naturalization papers with a picture of myself at 8 years old though, but I suspect that would not be adequate.

never went to the hospital after. I have a certificate of live birth that the dr hand wrote. The hospital where they kept all records burnt down before the age of computers.I guess I don't ever leave this country.

11. What a load of crap

Do me a favor hobbit - make sure you write your story down and send it to your Congressman - even if it's an R. And to your Texas House Representative and Senator and even Gov. Goodhair. Don't be too snippy because the Homeland Insecurity could get really pissy on you, but they need to hear from American citizens that this is a waste of time and money. Money that could be better spent on real problems in Texas.

Tell them that you've been paying taxes for "x" number of years and you think this is a big waste of taxpayer's money.
