Poll question: Why is there so much DU Venom over Michael Jackson?

We didn't fight like this over Farrah...

17. I'll add a few words
too stupid/lazy/robotic that they can't CHANGE THE GOD DAMNED CHANNEL. Read a book, watch a movie, take a walk, fuck your SO.
Do something other than watch TEEVEE.

23. TV should have changed the topic. Way too much MJ coverage on all the
major channels.

How many soldiers have died in Iraq without a minute of national attention?

2. The coverage has been extreme.
After today's services, it should be put to rest.

At least not be the LEAD story anymore.

RIP, Michael.

I only wish he'd been a smoking, vegan, gun owner with pit bulls and an H2 so that we could have really gotten down.

6. How about 12 days of "All MJ, All the Time."
In the same way that I don't think anyone is worth a million dollars a year in salary, I don't think anyone is worth 12 days of incessant 24/7 hero worship (or at least take it to the lounge or in some non-substantive forum).

(And If we'd have 12 days of Farrah worship, those of us who thought that was way over the top would have been complaining about that too (and being yelled at for being insensitive).)

7. They're sick of seeing it 24-7.
I personally give a little shit but not much more...so I just ignore most threads but a few pique my interest.

Some people are indifferent and are fuming at the oversaturation of our media while there are much more viable things that are being ignored. I feel for them...up to a point.

12. Because every messageboard on the internet has it's share of haters.
It helps that he has been accused of child molestation. and it seems that many on DU don't give much credence to the whole idea of "innocent until proven guilty", I guess.

28. People don't live their lives by "innocent until proven guilty"
That's for criminal cases in law courts. Bush hasn't been convicted of anything apart from drunken driving, but that doesn't mean that people can't hold an opinion that he's a bad person who's probably done far worse illegal and immoral things. Same for Jackson.

You can't ask people to forget their disgust for child abuse, just because other people really, really like a man's music and dancing.

13. It's the MSM paradox.
People here complain that the worthless MSM is wasting its time on Jackson when in fact, they would be wasting time on something else if he hadn't died, and somehow this is depriving DUers of vital news that the MSM wouldn't cover in the first place.

things - it is nice to see msnbc air the whole thing right now without commentary - the media have killed off many celebratory with their negativity - they went after Diana until they killed her.
