If YOU could depose Sarah Palin, what would YOU ask?
I'm trying to limit my Sarah Palin posts to just replies to other people's posts, but this one from Progressive Alaska (quoting Andrew Sullivan) is just too good to pass up. We know all of this, of course, but it's startling to see the lies laid out one by one like this.

http://progressivealaska.blogspot.com/2009/07/saradise-lost-book-3-chapter-12-if-you.html

Should soon-to-be-ex-Gov. Sarah Palin's attorney, Thomas van Flein actually go ahead and sue Alaska blogger Shannyn Moore, or any of the rest of the Alaska bloggers or citizen activists for "malicious" whatever, one of the very likely consequences would be a deposition or depositions of the ex-Gov.

An easy target might be all the lies she has told over the past two weeks. Were any of them or all of them "malicious?" Is it malicious for her and Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell to inaccurately claim that citizens' requests for clarification of interpretations of our executive ethics statutes have cost the state "millions," when that appears to be not just wildly inaccurate, but intentionally false? Is it malicious for her to claim Alaska Natives on the lower Yukon have obtained 50% of their subsistence needs at a time when passing on that lie might hurt these peoples' ability to have honest efforts directed their way before the short summer there is past? Was it malicious for Palin to assert that she had made a pact with the Secret Service that didn't exist? Was it malicious for Palin to lie to the McCain campaign - repeatedly - about her husband's level of involvement in the Alaska Independence Party?

In all these instances, either uttered, twittered or uncovered during the past week, it appears to me, Palin was, to borrow from van Flein's July 4th statement, false, defamatory, and perhaps unscrupulous.

Should Palin sit in on a deposition for me, my attorney might ponder (courtesy of Andrew Sullivan http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2009/07/the-odd-lies-of-sarah-palin-a-roundup.html):

Palin lied when she said the dismissal of her public safety commissioner, Walt Monegan, had nothing to do with his refusal to fire state trooper Mike Wooten; in fact, the Branchflower Report concluded that she repeatedly abused her power when dealing with both men.

Palin lied when she repeatedly claimed to have said, "Thanks, but no thanks" to the Bridge to Nowhere; in fact, she openly campaigned for the federal project when running for governor.

<snip - many, many more lies>

What would you have Palin asked during her deposition(s)?

1. All I'd want to ask her is - WHY do you have to be so frickin' snarky and MEAN???
And don't you know how ugly that makes you, miss would-be beauty queen?

2. I'd ask her to take a vow of silence.
Failing that, a vow of chastity could be a good thing.

4. So, how's the vibe up there in Alaska!!
I don't know much about Parnell but I can't imagine him being any worse than Caribou Barbie. Regardless of party, I hope he focuses on your state and not on trying to stay in the limelight.

20. We fear he may be Frank Murkowski II
He was an oil company lobbyist for a time, so we're a concerned about that. Also, he Club for Growth, real pro-development. He will bear watching. Scarier than Sarah in some respects because he seems sane.

5. What life would Hillary Clinton had if she sued anyone who wrote maliciously about her
Edited on Tue Jul-07-09 02:55 PM by LynneSin
Instead she rose above that snarkiness to serve as a great First Lady of the US, talented US Senator from New York and now a wonderful Secretary of State. And for what it's worth, she would have rocked as a president had she gotten that nomination.

And btw, I know there is no comparison between a great lady like Hillary Clinton and that joke Sarah Palin BUT it was the Republicans who selected her as the VP in hopes that the rest of the world would think Palin would be a great alternative for the Clinton voters.

9. Just who paid for that enormous house, Sarah?
Let's see the paper trail, soon to be ex Governor.

You did actually pay for the construction, didn't you?

What other contracts under your jurisdiction was that contractor working on at the time?

Show me the money trail, and there had better be one.

10. I'd probably cogitate for 15 minutes, then give up
Anything out of this woman's mouth represents her deepest, most personal feelings at that precise moment. Then the moment's gone. She's like a 6-year-old. Because if you bring up to her what she said a year ago, six months ago, or even 10 seconds ago, she reverts into "there you go again with your 'gotcha' questions {wink} doncha know" mode. There's no percentage in trying to get a coherent statement out of this woman; you'd be better served trying to nail Jell-o to a tree in a lightning storm or sandpapering a bobcat's butt in a phone booth.

12. Don't have anything to ask but here's
another real "ethics complaint" filed against her on Monday the 6th of July..

By David Corn in Mother Jones..

<snip>>>

"Henning's most recent complaint is about an old matter: Palin collecting per diem payments from the state for living in her Wasilla home, rather than in the governor's residence in Juneau. The Washington Post broke this story in September, and Palin's spokespeople insisted she had done no wrong and that her actions had followed state rules. Not until now has it become the subject of an ethics complaint.

From a press release Henning issued:

"I am charging that the Governor has given herself a raise for personal gain by using the per diem process, which is in direct conflict with Section 39.52.120. (a) of the Alaska Executive Ethics Act," Henning said. "The State of Alaska provides housing in the state's capital of Juneau for our Governor, so there should be no extra expense if she desires to stay in her own home. More than a thousand state employees commute from the Mat-Su Valley daily and none of them get to pocket free money."

The reasons why I am filing this complaint are as follows:.."

17. I'd like to ask her to take an IQ test and make the results public.
In fact, I'd match her by taking it too.

I think I am reasonably competent but would Never consider myself smart enough to hold elected office, especially offices like governor or higher. In fact, she could not get elected as a Selectman in our little town of 22,000.

It takes a little more than a wink to make important decisions.

For the life of me, I can't imagine how she got as far as she did. Might ask her that too.

19. Have you ever accepted anything of value in return for your political support for an issue?
Have you ever used your position as either mayor or governor to punish political opponents, or order a subordinate to do so on your behalf?

Can you produce bills of sale or documents of ownership for the materials purchased by you or for you, for your personal residence?

Have you ever received compensation of either a monetary or goods-in-kind nature from any source that wasn't reported to the IRS?

If she didn't have such wacko crazy supporters, I could feel comfortable just laughing at her, but those people kind of scare me.

25. why do you have such a double-standard?
I mean the bitch travels around the country calling President Obama a terrorist yet goes apeshit when a comedian makes a joke at her expense. I guess she thought it was okay when Rush called Chelsea Clinton a dog because her parents are Democrats.

And if she has such a thin skin, politics should be the LAST occupation that she should have looked into. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.
