ATTENTION! Ann and Nancy Wilson of HEART!
Can you PLEASE do a remake of "Barracuda" with the lyrics "Barraquiter"?

Please? Pretty please?

I love you both!

1. Due to parody rights anyone can do it.... otherwise Weird Al would still be playing accordian.

2. This isn't a job for Weird Al, it's a job for Bob Rivers
Bob and his team are probably the best parody writers in the country. They also happen to do the morning show on KZOK in Seattle, which is a classic rock station that plays a lot of Heart (mostly the old stuff, which is the best anyway).

So it's not out of the question that they might come up with a parody and get Ann & Nancy to sing it.

4. Oh, yeah. Bob Rivers kicks butt.
My wife is a big fan. I used to really like the show myself but Spike really pissed me off being so gung ho on Iraq the way he was. He swallowed the Bushites' load of crap as if it smelled like roses. I'll never get that.

6. Yeah, I haven't listened to them in a while either.
Partly because of that, and partially because the Clear Channel country station at 102.9 drowns out the damn KZOK signal to the point where I can't even lock the signal in on my clock radio anymore. And if I woke up listening to Country (especially all that war propaganda shit they were playing a few years ago) I would probably be in a homicidal mood all day. So that's when I had to switch the clock radio to AM 1090 and wake up to Stephanie.

5. Someone in Seattle needs to pursue this, then
Ann and Nancy Wilson are no fans of Palin. I seem to recall that they issued some sort of statement about Palin's using their song for publicity, and it was humorous in its fuck-you-ness.

7. Bob Rivers is a wingnut
He prefers to make parody songs about liberals. Dunno if he'd do the Palin or not.

8. I wouldn't call him a wingnut exactly.

He's referred to himself as a "moderate Republican" in the past, but the reality is that he usually seems to be to the left of Spike, who actually calls himself a Democrat. Joe's the real Liberal in the group though.

And they have parodied Democrats and Repukes equally over the years. And they were clearly in the Obama camp last fall, as can be heard here http://www.bobrivers.com/#v8814

Here's some more good ones....

George Bush Told Lies http://www.bobrivers.com/#v8692

Al Gore's Travelling Global Warming Show http://www.bobrivers.com/#v9029

And his ode to Pat Buchanan from way back in 1996 http://www.bobrivers.com/#v8364

Shit.. almost forgot Cheney's Got a Gun http://www.bobrivers.com/#v8381

3. Yeah, but it would just be so much better if Ann and Nancy did it....
especially after they sued to get Palin to stop playing the original.

9. Maybe they can get the Pretenders' Chrissie Hynde to help them too....

Since she's also had battles with Rush using the Pretenders "My City Was Gone" song all of the time as his theme song. Maybe they and other artists could work together and put out an album of remakes of their own songs to go after all of the Republicans that have been stealing them over the years!

Here was one parody of "My City Was Gone"... (All Logic is Gone)

http://www.oakton.edu/user/~billtong/bnsp/all-logic.htm

Aerosmith might be a part of this with them not liking the GOP using "Back in the Saddle".

http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/02/aerosmith-to-house-gop-dont-use-our-song.php

Or Don Henley of the Eagles who also sued the GOP over use of "The Boys of Summer" and "All She Wants to Do Is Dance".

http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/Music/04/18/henley.lawsuit/index.html

I'm sure there are plenty more artists out there that have had their works *misused* by Rethuglicans that might be recruited to do a parody of the GOP "song pirates"...

10. As a member of Heartmongers in good standing, I concur.
And I get to see them again this year. I have my tickets reserved by Heart at the concerts I go to so I get good seats. I also own a signed Gibson Les Paul by Heart.
