Premieres Easter Sunday, April 8 at 8 p.m. (EST)

Schedule & Descriptions: http://www.tvoneonline.com/shows/show.asp?sid=703&id=1429
("Roots" will air in six parts on TV One beginning Easter Sunday at 8 p.m. (EST) and concluding Sunday, April 15.)

About the Mini-series

"Roots," the highest rated mini-series of all time, comes to TV One in its entirety to mark the 30th anniversary of this epic saga about one family's journey from tribal Africa to slavery to emancipation in the post-Civil War South.

This historic mini-series, adapted from Alex Haley's best-selling book of the same name, dramatizes a century in Haley's family history, beginning with the story of Kunta Kinte (LeVar Burton), a young West African man who is captured by slave traders in 1750 and sold into slavery. The story continues through the emancipation of Kunta Kinte's grandson, Chicken George (Ben Vereen).

The all-star cast of "Roots" also includes Maya Angelou, Cicely Tyson, John Amos, Richard Roundtree, Louis Gossett Jr., Ed Asner, Lloyd Bridges and Todd Bridges.

In 1977, 85 percent of homes in the United States tuned in to watch all or part of "Roots." Tune in to TV One this Easter Sunday as "Roots" captivates a whole new generation of audiences.

1. Please post a reminder Sunday night too, because I know I'll forget...
...because, even though I saw most of it, I missed Part 1 back when it first aired in 1977. I saw the rest in 7th Grade Social Studies class.

I know this will be hard for some of you to believe, but there was a time when not every household had a VCR, I don't remember if we had our Sony Betamax VCR yet, I don't think so.

3. How long until some RW "Think Tank" debunks it?
I'm sure there are "Slavery Skeptics" out there ready to call for peer review and explain that most slave owners treated their slaves with "respect and dignity".
