RIP Paul Wellstone

For too long has your legacy has been overshadowed by a usurper. May your spirit be at peace.

4. Is Rest In Peace an appropriate epitaph for someone who was a fighter?
Sure, he was opposed to war.

But as long as there was injustice in the world, Wellstone was on the front lines, fighting for truth, justice, yadda, yadda, yadda

6. That's why he could not be at peace
until the torch was passed to another who will fight like he did.

5. Thank you Paul for serving, for inspiring, for leading. Your seat is
now properly occupied and we wish him to pursue his faith in the little people.

8. I remember my first vote was to Wellstone
It was absentee. Wellstone died two days after I sent off my vote and I was so hoping my vote would count for Mondale but it was not to be.

9. K&R
My thoughts exactly.
A WRONG has been Righted.

"When we ALL do better, we all do better."----Paul Wellstone

I wish more "Democrats" were like him.

"There are forces within the Democratic Party who want us to sound like kinder, gentler Republicans. I want us to compete for that great mass of voters that want a party that will stand up for working Americans, family farmers, and people who haven't felt the benefits of the economic upturn."---Paul Wellstone

14. That is so weird. I've been thinking of him all day today, and just read your post.
That is one assassination that NEVER should have happened. I really wonder if someone hasn't mentioned to Dems in congress how easily Wellstone was "taken out" by the fanatical right wing government we suffered under for so long...as a warning or something.

We have a seriously right wing government, still, but at least there are SOME crumbs being thrown to us peasants under the dems. IOW, these days we get a little kiss before we get royally screwed.

20. Paul Wellstone would have been the greatest, loudest voice AGAINST the bush*/cheney* insanity.
Edited on Wed Jul-01-09 09:17 AM by Raster
Senator Paul had to be taken out for their plans to advance. He wasn't owned by anyone or anything and owed his allegiance only to constituents that had elected him. That made him the rarest of rare in the United States Congress: a man of principle.

19. "Politics isn't about big money or power games;
it's about the improvement of people's lives"

"The people of this country, not special interest big money, should be the source of all political power.”

“I'm from the Democratic party-wing of the Democratic Party”

"If we don't fight hard enough for the things we stand for, at some point we have to recognize that we don't really stand for them. "
Paul Wellstone

Al Franken ADORED him and hopefully, he will do right by him.
