So we will have 60 Senators. All we need now is 60 votes.
With Democrats like the Nelsons, Bayh, Baucus and Lieberman, we need to be prepared for a few
letdowns after the celebration (assuming Pawlenty doesn't pull a fast one after some screaming
phone calls from our own John Cornhole, R(idiculous)-TX.

We have the 60 votes on paper, but a lot of Madoff's investors had millions on paper, too. It
remains to be seen if our rightward leaners can show a little party unity the way their right-
wing counterparts did when they ran the show. If not, all we've won is a number we can wear on
a T-shirt.

It may look daunting from a Republican point of view, but if they manage to persuade a small number
of Democrats to act as fifth-columnists, then the number is little more than just that, and the history
books will be full of just how little good it did us. The Senate NOW has the chance to do great things.

Whether or not they will do so is another matter entirely. I may not be from Missouri, but I still say
they gotta show me.
