Honduras coup has an " amazing and wonderful part"!
Edited on Mon Jun-29-09 01:06 PM by Smarmie Doofus
>>>>>Honduras has just gone through a coup d'etat. The amazing, and wonderful part about it is that there has been no violence in the streets or riots. The people continue to live and carry on with their days, watchful of events, and aware, but also continuing on with their lives, such as watching the Honduran Seleccion, and reveling in the fact that Honduras won over Panamama 2-0. The honduran people are all about peace. Today is a living monument to that fact.>>>>

Who knew. Is this the direction in which it will be spun?

From a $$$$$ multi-corporate $$$$ multi national $$$$$ website:

http://www.honduras.com/

Did I mention $$$$$$ ?

5. Zelaya had an approval rating worse than Cheney. Ninety percent of Honduras
Edited on Mon Jun-29-09 01:09 PM by SuperTrouper
approves of the actions by COngress and the Judicial system. Zelaya will not return, Roberto Micheletti will make sure that the 11/29/09 elections are held on time. That is why Chavez and Zelaya are pissed because Zelaya wanted to be the next Chavez in Latin America. Hondurans are the most peace-loving people. If they loved Zelaya they would have been protesting in the streets the way they protested when Gen. Lopez Arellano ousted President ramon Ernesto Cruz in the early 1970's

8. You're so far to the right of that junta, you'll fall off the end, if you're not careful.

Is there someting wrong with wanting to be another Chavez? Should he have wanted to be another Pinochet? Videla? Lorscheider? I think we should be told.

If people admire a leaders so much they don't want term limits, is that, maybe, populism, and should be stamped on? We know the monied people hate democracy, and have always fought against it. Are you in a low-paid job? On welfare? I don't think so.

9. If he supposedly had that bad an approval rating...
Whats the harm in letting him have his referendum on doing away with term-limits? Surely the people wouldn't have voted for him if that was the case. Why the coup?

7. No violence in the streets -- instead, presidential candidates are shot to death in their homes.
And foreign ambassadors are kidnapped by the military -- all without violence in the streets.

Wow, democracy, and international law, being crushed without violence in the streets: what a wonderful day!

11. They were able to side-step some violence by cutting electricity and phones,
including cell phones, so no one could make plans, then cut the public tv station off altogether, and for people who still got tv signals, there were the delightful endless cartoons playing so no news got out.

Then they flooded the streets with military and tanks to establish the awareness the country had a HEAVY military presence and all opposition would be futile, and imposed a total curfew for the public from 9:00 to 6:00 the next morning for the next two nights, as starters.

They got out ahead of any possible reaction of any strength.
