Question about the 1988 Presidential campaign, Douche Sr., and civil rights...
Edited on Mon Jun-29-09 12:16 PM by BolivarianHero
Did the Dukakis campaign use clips and rhetoric from Poppy's 1964 White supremacist Senate campaign to paint him as an out-of-touch, racist wacko? I don't know why he wouldn't have, because he could have not only decimated Bush Sr., but also crippled the religious right's credibility and the GOP's viability.

1. No. He over-estimated the intelligence of US voters. Too short and too cool to be prez.
I loved voting for him. Only Hillary and Obama come close.

2. No. Dukakis Did No Negative Advertising
And thus got his ass handed to him by Lee Atwater, Poppy's sleeze-mongering manager.

We just don't see much negative campaigning in MA, so folks like Dukakis and Kerry just don't know how to do it.

4. very true. his ads were all positive and the ones that assailed Bush were more along the lines of
'shame on Bush', nothing controversial. I was sickened when I saw the nasty BS negative ads against Gov Dukakis. I thought, "people fall for this sh*t?"

I was so much smarter than all my teachers... big shocker.

6. He should have used it. I was unaware of it.
I also wondered just how damn stupid murkins were after they voted for raygun.
We don't deserve a country we are too damned stupid as a people.

I was just listening to Diane Rehm talking to some folks about the supreme court and how they are likely to play the corpses freedom of speech to spend corporate $$$ on adverts to bend our elections to their will.
We Need to stand up and end corporates in our government, or end this copy of 'republicanism' and start with direct democracy or we are going to be more and more locked out of the process, as if we could be much more ignored than now.
We need to see an end to campaign bribery, but mark my words the supreme court will rule that McCain / Feingold to be unconstitutinal and we will have complete and utter corpse campaign bribe rule.
