My usual posts might be frivolous and from THE RAG (see the DISCLAIMER), but they have a POLITICAL angle that the MJ tsunami of GD *doesn't*.

Funny, I griped to a poster who totally disregarded my frustrated Disclaimer, when I asked, "Why did you post in MY thread linking to THE RAG, but here's another thread with the same linkage (different topic) that attracts NO sniping about THE RAG?!1" The answer, "Oh, I would *never* click on a thread about Jackie and Marlon BRANDO." Oh, haha, so I should be honored that my threads attract SERIES people whose high-mindedness is defined by sniffing against "gossip" and THE RAG!1

SPITZER: I'M NO MARK SANFORD

THERE'S a huge difference between what South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford did, and what ex-New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer did. "I didn't fall in love with any of them," Spitzer was overheard telling LMDC executive director Avi Schick the other day at Solo in the Sony Building on Madison, where they had the $24 prix-fixe lunch. And Spitzer didn't use any taxpayer money on his trysts, while Sanford is reimbursing the state about $12,000 for travel expenses to Buenos Aires. Schick had Vietnamese beef spring rolls and a grilled chicken salad.

IMMORTAL GEORGE

GEORGE Washington could have turned into a Frankenstein's monster had his personal physician prevailed. In "Strange But True, America," out in August from Lone Pine, John Hafnor and Dale Crawford reveal that when the father of our country died at age 67, his body was packed in ice. "Dr. William Thornton proposed thawing the body -- first in cool water and then with warm blankets and rubbing of the skin, with a subsequent tracheotomy, artificial respiration at the tracheotomy site and a transfusion of lamb's blood," they write. Luckily, Martha Washington firmly vetoed Thornton's bizarre plan for an attempted resurrection.

THE PROBLEM WITH A DISCLAIMER is its coming off as defensive, especially when it's preemptive. Trouble is, it's damned if do/don't: NOT including it first results in the predictable problems.

DISCLAIMER re: linking to the NY Post (for to head-off highly predictable, OT/hijacking posts):: Yes, it is a RAG. Yes, it is owned by NewsCorp/Faux's MURDOCH. No, he doesn't Dictaphone content to his gossip columnists. No, "gossip" does NOT equate to "UNtruth" (OR with "triviality" for that matter). These old time gossipers are more journalistically reliable than Tweety and such ilk. Frequently, political tidbits are here first, later to show up in more "respectable" venues. Keep friends close, enemies closer. Cherrypicking intel results in self-fulfilling FALSENESS. I got hooked on these gossipers when they were on the
E!1 network and, when they were cancelled, tracked them down and they happened to be at THE RAG (NY Post). ALL I read at THE RAG are the gossip and the horoscope. On Edit: If this disclaimer is NOT ENOUGH, if you don't like this o.p., PLEASE just click OUT without leaving your any-further-a(doo-doo)!1

1. But, don't forget the hypocrisy with Spitzer. He was on a campaign against
prostitution while he was going to prostitutes. I don't like hypocrisy in either party.
