US pastor opens church to guns (BBC)
A pastor in the US state of Kentucky has told his flock to bring handguns to church in what he says is an effort to promote safe gun ownership.

Pastor Ken Pagano told parishioners to bring their unloaded guns to New Bethel Church in Louisville for a service celebrating the right to bear arms.

He said he acted after church members voiced fears the Obama administration could tighten gun control laws.

When the service began, some 200 people were present, AP news agency said.

"If it were not for a deep-seated belief in the right to bear arms, this country would not be here today," he said.

3. When I was a child going to mass
and catechism - the word gun was never uttered. Neither was anything about the country or patriotism or anything along those lines. The only time I heard anything political was when women came screaming out of their houses to tell us to pray for President Kennedy who had been shot.

Did anybody else go to a church that talked about guns back in the 50s and 60s?

5. This is no big deal. We've never had a problem with CHL folks in my church.

7. Why would anyone need a gun if God watching out for him?
Kind of like the in-god-we-trust thing. If it were true, we wouldn't need money.
