Priceless: 'English-Only' Supporters Hold Conference, Can't Spell 'Conference'

On Saturday, Pat Buchanan hosted a conference to discuss how Republicans can regain a majority in America. During one discussion, panelists suggested supporting English-only initiatives as a prime way of attracting "working class white Democrats." The discussion ridiculed Judge Sotomayor for the fact that she studied children’s classics to improve her grammar while attending college. The panelists also suggested that, without English as the official language, President Obama would force Americans to speak Spanish.

One salient feature of the event was the banner hanging over the English-only advocates. The word conference was spelled “Conferenece.”

that you call my joke response "humorless". Allow me to explain: one cannot tell someone that one has missed a joke when one misses a joke. It's a paradox. An humorous inversion or juxtaposition of ideas or concepts. An intentional misspelling of a commonly misspelled word dubiously qualifies as a "joke".

Also, creating a pun out of "genderizing" with the prefix "hist-" does not refer to the context of the OP, so does not add to the inversion or juxtaposition of ideas...

46. A poster like that is hard to blame on them.. It could have been a typo from the

printer and they didn't have time to have a new one made.. or they someone sent it in with the wrong spelling.. However, before production of the print, it should have been spell checked. That's not a homemade sign. I give them a pass on this one. However, it does make them look like idiots. AND why is it that we are so scared of other languages. I wish for a free society. I wish I was like our foreign friends who are able to speak multiple languages and enjoy friends farther and wider. I don't like being the "stupid American" because our education sucks.
