first rep caller: poor people responsible for loans who couldn't pay back, govt. control and pressure to lend responsible, and repeal of glass -stegal act under clinton is cause to blame

stiglitz: govt. regulation would have not allowed predatory lending etc. talked about "free banking" total failure in Chile under Pinochet


stiglitz slamming republ self-contradictory arguments, GOOD!

he would tell callers they were wrong and explain the truth of it. and he did it nicely but firmly.
