15. According to this poll, 100% of DUers disagree with you. They all voted for one or the other option

24. Actually, it means that Ed McMahon isn't dead, but why quibble?
Was Johnny's sidekick not the Michael Jackson of the boomer generation?

19. Does ANYONE ever stop to consider the BILLION$$ in positive balance-of-trade ...
... that Michael Jackson and his ilk generate for this country?? They SELL ... worldwide. Their product is an EXPORT ... and it doesn't rape the earth or pollute the air. It doesn't kill villages full of people or impoverish anyone. It doesn't exploit suffering and illness. It entertains ... and adds something positive to the lives of those who enjoy that product ... without harming their health.

Sheesh! Michael Jackson was FAR more deserving of the wealth he was able to acquire than Bill Gates, fer crissakes! Jacko ACTUALLY performed!

21. Thanks. I've never been a Jackson 'groupie' or Jackson 'basher.'

I do, however, recognize the genius in his FUSION of diverse elements of the genre. He fused rock/blues/disco and single-handedly moved the "music video" to heights unknown before 'Thriller.' His dance styling incorporated Fred Astaire, Bill Robinson, Hines-Hines-Dad, and other prominent artists ... FUSING dance with a musical styling that was also a FUSION. He even "FUSED" races, becoming an amalgam of white and black. Sure ... he was 'weird' ... an inexplicable, out-of-the-ordinary human being for whom there was no 'template.' He was DOOMED to be both loved and hated ... he even 'fused' that perception. There was more neuroses and talent and drive/zeal in that one person ... enough for a dozen 'ordinary' people.

Not a hero. Not a villain. Someone to be both admired and pitied ... with a childhood that was also a FUSION of both horror and heaven.

His efforts to FUSE fantasy with reality (whatever that is) were merely an extension of his life. He never seemed to SEPARATE ... only FUSE.

Simple nostrums just don't apply in his case.

22. Apparently it's important enough to keep you complaining about it.
Just think of all the useful things you could have posted about tonight, all those issues you say we should be paying attention to...all the while not paying attention to them tonight either.

Both starved for attention and a hypocrite.
