the International Football (Soccer) Association, is asking Iranian officials to answer to them if there is any truth to the report that Iranian soccer players who wore green armbands in their last match, have been punished. That is all I have for now.

1. I'd expect that FIFA will get a pro forma denial from the Iranian authorities.

The question is, what will FIFA do then?

2. i believe FIFA has the power to suspend the nation's FA

and national team from competition indefinitely...they have done it to a couple of african nations in the past, iirc

but every person, state, organization, has to at the very least, make it known, that they are watching...and disapproving. Silence is assent, so even though this might not make any difference, it is a small drop on the rock, and those many small drops....
