Some people like that stuff, others don't.

If it was all dumped in one spot wouldn't that make everybody happy?

1. that stuff should go in the lounge I think
Though not everybody 'dumps' that stuff there instead of GD (or worse, LBN).

3. Depends.
1). Depends on how you define tabloid / junk news. Also, are you going to be the one who defines it, or are the Mods?

2). "Some people like that stuff, others don't." That's a perfect opportunity to exercise the "Don't Click On It" principle. Start defining DU by what "some people" like and you'll kneecap the character of the site for everyone else.

3). "If it was all dumped in one spot wouldn't that make everybody happy?" Well, I think you know that "everybody" will never be happy. But is the issue that you want to make everybody happy, or do you just want to be happy by seeing only what you want to see?

4). In addition to "The Don't Click On It" principle, there is also the "Hide Threads" principle and "Ignore User" principle. This, in unison with the Mods doing their jobs, pretty much covers all of the bases.

5. Excellent post!

I'm struck by the Mothers Superior who jump out and try to tell everyone that they "have spent enough time on this nonsense" and should (my favorite word, by the way) be paying attention to Iraq, Iraq, Afghanistan, healthy care, any number of things that are of interest to all of us. But, it is not acceptable to these morally superior beings for any DUers to post about the Sanford matter because they - the Mothers Superior - have decided that this stuff is not worthy of anyone's attention and so all must bow down and stop it immediately!

Don't Click On It" and "Hide Thread" and "Who Died And Made You God?" options are always available.

I'm telling you, I can't believe it when I see that nattering nonsense. Now, a kind of isolating is recommended. Well, what if some of us see Sanford's saga as a matter of governmental ethics and NOT tabloid crap? Who decides that?

Scary stuff, indeed.................................

4. One person's tabloid trash is another person's LBN.
There's always the hide thread option.

If politicians screw around, that'd both tabloid trash AND political news.
