If Sanford Resigns, South Carolina May Have its First Gay Governor
Cross-posted from DemConWatch

On May 30th, FireDogLake published an interview with Linda Ketner who, last year, came within 2% of ousting incumbent Republican Henry Brown. In the interview Ketner said the following:

"We have more gay people serving in South Carolina than probably in anyplace in the United States; they're just not out of the closet. We have an awful lot of people in the closet-- Lindsey Graham, Glenn McConnell who's our Senate president pro tem, our Lt Governor

She apologized a few days later:

I let myself and others down in a recent off-the-record chat with a reporter.  I obviously don’t have knowledge of the sexual orientation of any individuals mentioned.  What I do have is respect and appreciation for their service to this state.

So take what you want from the interview. I and probably all of the readers here wouldn't think twice about him being gay. It's the people of the ever increasingly loony right wing whose heads will explode when they find out that Mark Sanford's little trip to Appalachia Argentina may give the great state of South Carolina its first gay Governor.

1. I seen a couple of times that the Gov and LtGov don't like each other

which I didn't understand because I figured that the Gov picked him! Is THAT the real reason why Sanford didn't leave him in charge, even temporarily?

2. The Lt Gov and Gov don't run on the same ticket in SC...
...elected separately, and yeah, they hate each other.

3. Well, naturally, Sanford would see the Lt. Gov. as unfit to serve...
...so the state would be better off with NO ONE in charge. :eyes:

4. It would appear Jenny Sanford was the brains and money in this
outfit. Would/could she take his place?

5. She's not the Lt Governor so no she can't
And I don't think they'd say he can't be Governor just because there's speculation that he's gay.
