Who's watching ABC with the President on Health care?
He's being very clear and logical... will they try to sandbag him?

2. I was hoping, while he's talking about the Mayo Clinic, and how
Edited on Wed Jun-24-09 09:14 PM by dflprincess
people from all over the world go there he would have mentioned that there are those of us who live an hour or so away from Mayo and can't use it because it's "out of network".

I wish he'd found someone other than Gibson or Sawyer for this - they're not very good actors. He should have just given a speech and skipped the set up questions.

7. Just started watching. Sawyer asked "why have the government involved"?
He answered it crisply and cleanly, but didn't punch it out by saying that people don't have insurance and can't get it because private suppliers of insurance price it too high or won't cover people. He made a good point about costs going up and in a few years we won't be able to afford premiums.

9. They already have.
The first two doctors set up straw men arguments. He very politely said they were good questions and then he destroyed their premise. So far. So good. I hope Diane sticks to asking questions and not interjecting her opinion, but that may be too much to ask.

for the uninformed.

AMA on. :evilfrown: Concerned about keeping bureaucracy out of medical care. What planet is he on?
Strategically, such a stupid question. :nuke:
Commercial now.
Medical decisions now made by insurance company. Not between physician & patient in many, many cases.

11. Damn, is the entire audience Doctors and med students, or are there uninsured people there too?
I thought this was supposed to be all walks of life in the audience. Maybe they are only calling on Doctors.

12. Here comes the AMA doctor shill asking how to keep from having an entity
from coming between a doctor and his patient. He stopped short of saying government. I hope Obama says that insurance is already there in the middle and shouldn't be.

16. An aside about the Mayo clinic, the doctor I work for interned there.
He's all for single payer or at least a public option. It bothers him when people go without primary care because of capitalistic greed.

17. I am.. and it is all I can do not to reach in and strangle Gibson...
His body language, tone, and aggressive interruptions--with "heavy attitude" are really pissing me off... I cannot believe I once liked him on GMA many years ago... I detest him now.

18. Why can't the government just have a vote on it?
Do you want a health care system like the European countries have or do you want to keep Insurance Company dictated health care?

Are they scared to find out what the American people really want?

20. Randi addressed this the other day and said we aren't allowed to
have national referendums, so all we can do is pester our Congress Critters, protest and have a revolution about this if need be.

22. They are doing news for half an hour and continuing on Nightline at 11:30 PM.
I think we need this discussion every week on a major national network once a week until Congress gets it. The two news bunnies were, oh well ugh, but the national coverage is gold. He did great btw.
