North Korea Threatens To Wipe Out The U.S. "Once And For All"

HYUNG-JIN KIM | June 24, 2009 11:45 AM EST | AP

SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea accused Washington of seeking to "provoke a second Korean War" as the regime prepared to hold maritime military exercises off the eastern coast.

U.S. and regional authorities were watching closely for signs that North Korea might fire short- or mid-range missiles during the June 25 to July 10 timeframe cited in a no-sail ban for military drills sent to Japan's Coast Guard.

North Korea had warned previously it would fire a long-range missile as a response to U.N. Security Council condemnation of an April rocket launch seen as a cover for its ballistic missile technology.

An underground nuclear test last month drew more Security Council action: a resolution seeking to clamp down on North Korea's trading of banned arms and weapons-related material by requiring U.N. member states to request inspections of ships carrying suspected cargo.

In a first test of the new resolution, a North Korean ship suspected of transporting illicit weapons was sailing off China's coast with a U.S. destroyer close behind.

1. N Korea's starting to sound like Iran . . . .
But then again, it's no longer "The Mouse That Roared" once the first missile hits.

17. When did Iran threaten to wipe out anyone especially the USA?
I believe I remember their President saying he wished Israel were to be wiped out but I don't recall his saying Iran was going to do it..

3. More internal propaganda
It's hard to really take this seriously when North Korea has been making statements like this for the better part of a decade, even going back to the Clinton years. Every time tensions flare up, they trot out these incendiary remarks, meant to shore up support for the Dear Leader.

13. Uh, sorry, I pay no attention to the squeakings of that fleabag nation.
California has more people than this small-penis joke of a nation does and many of them are starving. I mean, what's realistically going to happen? Their low-budget missile heads somewhere towards Hawaii, we intercept it and then their nation gets turned into a destroyed desert of glass shards?

North Korea isn't going to do SHIT. They've been talking all that jazz for a decade now.

14. I always think it's funny when we talk so tough about Iran
Whom we know have no bombs, but we can't really be bothered to disarm N. Korea who HAS them...but we're happy to insert a comment about how they are shipping things to Iran(When really, their stuff came from us Via Dick Cheney) and Syria(Who have no program and would like to be allies with us).

As Carlin said, "Just looking for a little consistency here..."

15. That's nice, dear Leader. Now, remind me...
...which nation is it that is actually capable of dropping a nuke on every city, town, village, and random kimchee stand in the other one? Oh, right....

16. This is the only thing that keeps that little maniac in power
The Korean people, both north and south, are tired of the current situation. They dearly want their country to be reunified, but the only ones who want it to be communist are in the North Korean government. By running around claiming the evil United States is trying to provoke a second Korean War (even though the first one's still going on), and swearing the American government is at the heart of all their economic woes, Eternal President Kim Il Sung (yup, Kim Il Sung is still officially head of the country, even though he's been dead for fifteen years) and Dear Leader Kim Jong Il stay in power even though his countrymen are basically sick of them. Our friends at the CIA claim that North Korea's adjusted GDP per capita is $1700--right between Cote d'Ivoire and Chad. Your average North Korean family has a pot to piss in...but they've got to cook in it too, and you know what happens when you don't wash the pot out well enough.
