Edited on Wed Jun-24-09 10:18 AM by Blue_Roses
That's what this idiot did. He should be fired. That's what would happen to most of us. To not tell your boss that you are taking a leave of absence is the same as walking off the job. Beside the fact that Sanford is already a whack job, he blatantly turned his back on his state while flipping them off!

If he gets this "stressed out" over his job, especially when it benefits the people in his state, then he needs to step aside anyway.

This is the most bizarre story I've heard in a while...and there have been plenty!

3. Strangely, my job WAS to take unscheduled trips to Argentina without telling anyone
I can't go into details here, or I'd have to kill all of you, and then how would Grovelbot get any donations?

16. Nazi fugitives? I'm sure he just wanted to ride with the gauchos on the pampas.
Maybe we should ask Brazil and Chile what sleaziness Argentina has to offer. Those three countries have incredible rivalry.

6. little or nothing....
It depends-- if I left all my classes in the lurch my dept chair would want to know why. I don't think there would be much beyond that. If I told my students in advance that classes were canceled, don't bother to show up, absolutely nothing would happen.

Oh, and BTW-- if "mental health break" was my explanation, I think my boss would accept that ENTHUSIASTICALLY!

10. If he didn't think it was important to inform his family, I guess that's his personal business.

But leaving state he was hired to govern in limbo by not leaving someone else in charge, not leaving contact information, and not informing security is as irrational as it is irresponsible.

12. It's all that and WORSE than all that: Abandoning your Post. Sleeping on Duty.
What the Army calls "Guard (-duty)" and the Navy calls "Watch (-duty)" is a MAJOR big deal. You canNOT "abandon your post." You canNOT sleep while on duty or otherwise be INattentive.

For the media full of chickenhawks to dismiss what he did as a "vacation" or a "stress day" or whatever INNOCUOUS thing is B.S.

He could have gone, but he needed to pass the duty to the LT Gov. (NOT, incidentally, to just any or some STAFF member.)
