argument for public option
just dawned on me.

we have the united states postal service.

government ran.

and we also have UPS, DHL, and the like.

privately ran.

last time i checked shipping is one the cheaper services available to the american public.

if the worry and focus is always going to be about the $$$, profit, etc. then this should stand as a good example as to how government ran and privately ran services coexisting actually work, and can still be profitable.

is this being brought up at all?
