Get a whiff: Obama admits occasional cigarette
President confirms gossip that he hasn’t entirely kicked his smoking habit

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31512752/ns/white_house/

WASHINGTON - It fell to President Barack Obama to confirm the gossip that his aides had spent weeks trying to snuff out: He still sneaks an occasional cigarette.

"There are times where I mess up," Obama said at a White House news conference on Tuesday.

But, the president hastened to add, he never smokes in front of his young daughters and not on a daily basis. Oh, and he's "95 percent cured."

It was the first public acknowledgment from the president that he still hasn't completely kicked the habit. In the past, he had alluded to his three-decades-old habit without giving direct answers.

2. If Obama has to "provide a birth certificate" at every appearance, could we demand
Bush take a breathalyzer test every day? Since he's "100 percent cured" of alcoholism, by his own "admission" ...

3. He has enough things to work on.
You have to think he can put the issue or problem of having an occasional cigarette off to fix some other day, so he can solve the big issues that effect many people.

There seems to be a few important things in the world going on.

4. The difference is the media sees his admission as a weakness
Yeah bu$h was drunk but the media let it slide because bu$h denied he was an drunk. That makes him strong

Obama openly admits he struggles with smoking. He is a weak man because of his admission.

8. So sad, and so true...
...for 8 years, that was always trumpeted as one of Bush's "strengths"...that he would never admit a mistake of any kind. Put that together with photos of him clearin' brush and drivin' around in his pickup in his big ol' cowboy hat and you've got one rootin' tootin' mean an' ornery kick-ass president, Stretch...

Yet another example of how baffling human behavior can be, specifically "character traits," real or imagined, that people in the mainstream seem to value.

5. Exactly!
Bush sounded screwed up on something in a lot of his addresses also. Why no questions about that? I don't even think he was mentally competent enough to be seen in public much by the end.

It's not like President Obama vanished on a hike, or was caught with great quantities of illegally obtained Oxy, or caught in a men's room up to no good, or wearing diapers in a whore house in New Orleans.

here's the story:

"Mr. President," she said, "want to?"

Want to has nothing to do with it in public life.

Pres George W Bush declines Misty May-Treanor's invitation to slap her butt in celebration and brushes her back instead

As the son of a president, a husband of nearly 37 years, the father of two daughters, the subject of some attempted tabloid exposes and a seasoned political veteran, who is not a female athlete but knows that every camera for a half-mile is trained on him, Bush wisely chose instead to brush his hand across the small of May-Treanor's back. (See photo.)
