The time is long overdue to reconsider this nonsensical legal fiction that grants corporations many of the same rights and privileges as living, breathing "natural" human beings. I understand the necessity of allowing them access to the courts, i.e., the right to sue and be sued. But, why should cold, lifeless business organizations whose SOLE reason for existence is to make a profit be allowed to participate in the politics of our nation?
Corporate funding of political campaigns and their spending millions to influence (or, in some instances, WRITE) legislation is most often justified as "political speech". PEOPLE were guaranteed freedom of speech, not business entities which, by definition, can't be patriotic, can't bleed, can't empathize with actual voters and, whatever they say to the contrary, don't really care about anyone or anything that doesn't impact their bottom line.
They are the tail; we are the dog, and they have wagged us for too long.
