What scares me about Obama
Edited on Tue Jun-23-09 09:32 AM by MattBaggins
What the hell is up with this new meme from the right? I do not know if this has been discussed before; but has anyone else noticed them using this non stop? Is this something new that came down from that asshole Frank Luntz?

I have noticed that over the past few weeks they use it at least every other sentence.

What scares me about Obama; is that he is not Reaganesque enough.

1. What new meme? It's been FEAR FEAR FEAR at least since the 21st century began.

What's "Regeanesque"? Did you mean "Reaganesque" as in "like Ronald Reagan"? What did you mean by that?

9. Ironically, Reagan said "I hope I have appealed to your greatest hopes and not your worst fears."

3. This would be a great segment for the Daily Show
"What Scares me about Obama..."

I'd love to have seen that memo from the top. "Remember, this week we're stepping up the rhetoric again to see if we can't get some crazed lunatic to take a shot at Obama, so don't forget to start each Presidential-related story with the phrase "what scares me about Obama..."

4. I haven't heard it (no real TV) but it sounds like "dog whistle politics"...

to me. They're probably talking to their base since they're using the their paranoid racist fear of Obama and comparing him to the still worshipped Reagan.

8. Yep.
The unanswered end of the question "Do you know what scares me about Obama...?" is "...that he is a black man."

That scares the jeebus out of them. They are racists to the core, every single scared one of them.

They can protest all they want, but their biggest fear is coming to pass, that the demographics of this nation are changing.

That is why they are against abortion. Mostly against it for white people, people of color can get all the abortions they want. They are afraid of becoming the minority race in this nation, and once that happens, political power will shift away from them forever.

5. All they have is to try and scare people. They represent a party with a 22% favorable rating
and he's a fairly popular figure. They have to try to fear monger and tear him down. In other words, just another work day for the GOP.

6. That 'meme' is ringing true with more and more DEMS!...
The fact is that the rate of disillusionment with Obama is accelerating at an alarming rate and the repunants are not so stupid as to not use that. Obama made many promisies, solemn promises during the campaign, on amny and varied issues. With the exception of bailing out the extremely wealthy bankers and financiers, he has reversed his stance on the majority of those issues, and ignored the remaining ones.

Can you blame the people who voted for the 'Change', believed in 'Audacity', to eventually become disillusioned when it turns out that once again we may have elected just another politician?

14. The repugs built a 'virtual' bonfire and yelled ....
Fire! Fire! We're all gonna burn. Then someone got the idea of actually starting a real fire, called war(s), and they yelled FIRE, FIRE! even louder...but most people knew that all you had to do was send in a fireman with a pail of water and douse the thing(end the war, get of of those places). What happened was the people called for a fireman who wasn't and he threw logs on the flames. Now there really is something to fear...the thought that whoever owns our political system ccna now initiate and carry on wars with no regard to the Constitution, or the will of the people. So yes, that repug 'meme' has grown to have some meaning to other than the whacked out NeoCONS and suthrin' baptists.

15. Since they grab as much as they can get away with...
I'd say probably having money and power. They were like pigs at the feeding trough while in power only pigs are far smarter then the vast majority of Republicans. ;)
