Who knew that "Idiocracy" was a documentary?

:dunce:

Woman calls 911, then allegedly keys police car

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Police in Syracuse said a woman who was annoyed that a police car was blocking her own car first called 911 and then vandalized the squad car. Police said the woman called 911 Saturday to report the "emergency" — that a patrol car was blocking her car. They said she then keyed the patrol car because they didn't move it quickly enough.

Officers were in the area to investigate a harassment complaint. They said the woman approached them and insisted they move their cruiser. They told her to wait.

Police said the woman approached them again and demanded they move the car, using profanity.

Witnesses said she then used her keys to vandalize the car.

Police found gouges on the car and the woman was charged with criminal mischief.

1. I knew.
I love that movie. But it seems to scare most people.

The future of the United States is "Idiocracy." It SHOULD scare people.

2. I find that much "idiocy" isn't really an inability to think or to comprehend, but
rather a refusal to recognize that the world doesn't revolve around "me." This woman, for example, seems to believe and operate on the principle that she is the only person in the world who matters. Total lack of not only empathy, but of the ability to realize that we live in a society.

4. True dat. And yet to many (most?) Americans,
they are a legitimate political party and a respectable choice at election time (though not in 2008, thank goodness). "I, me, mine" is not an acceptable guiding philosophy nor any basis upon which to build or uphold a society!

6. A couple we hang with are DINK Repubs. And incredibly selfish.
Don't get me wrong, they're very generous about certain things we all tend to find socially acceptable. For instance, he'll happily pick up a dinner tab or pay for a lift ticket in exchange for a ride to the mountains. But he and his wife think that because they don't have kids that they shouldn't have to pay any taxes, because they don't use the services families with kids do. They moved to a rural town because it no police force they'd have to pay taxes for (a state highway runs through town, so they're covered by a nearby State Police barracks). However, they still bitch about their tax bill, the vast majority of which goes to fund the local K-12 school. HORRORS! Why should they have to pay to educate other people's children?

It's quite bizarre, actually. Life has been good to them, financially. But they're Republican to the core -- even know claiming they didn't vote for Bush in 2004, even though we were at a dinner party with them the night after the election where they proudly rubbed their Bush votes in our faces.

Fortunately, they're still generally pleasant people, and we can even discuss politics without getting into fist fights!
