Insurance companies are not in business to pay claims.

They're in business to make money.

Which means, paying as little money on as few claims as possible.

(Yes, I know yall may think I'm stating the obvious--but sometimes the obvious needs to be stated.)

1. True. Filing claims makes you a bad customer.
Good customers buy insurance, pay the premiums, and then DON'T file claims.



The whole notion of health insurance has outlived its utility. Most of those who are going bankrupt because of medical bills HAVE health insurance. It's not enough. It's almost never enough.

3. Yes but you have all these choices of which claims they will deny
and who they will deny them from, and which doctors you can't go to because they are outside the insurer's network and which specialists you can't see and which tests you can't have and which emergency rooms you can't go to and which prescription you can't have because that drug is not approved by some bean counter and...


... but at least you don't have to wait for an appointment to a doctor you can't visit.

Thank God We Don't Have Socialist Healthcare
