List and Status of Embassies in Tehran

with 38 comments

The list below is merely a list of embassies. Embassies have rules which they must follow with their host country. An embassy cannot officially take in just any person seeking assistance. They can do their best to transfer people to a hospital. There may be some doctors at embassies that are trying to help people, but ultimately the embassy tries to transfer all injured people to a HOSPITAL right away. There are/were rumors that many embassies were taking injured Iranians in and that an embassy was a good alternative to a hospital, which have been reported as filled with Basij. There are many people that because of this list have called their embassies or governments to demand explanation as to why they are not on it. The answers have been definitive: NO COUNTRY IS ACCEPTING INJURED IRANIANS

Now that I have made my self clear, that is the official line of all the embassies. There are bound to be unofficial acts of kindness here and there, but overall the official line is the on the ground policy of most embassies.

If you would like to try and make this list a reality then by all means, lobby your government and the embassies themselves. Lobby anyone you think could change this. Do it, but I’m warning you that it will be hard and in most cases futile. I will still have the list of embassies and their STATUS there because it can’t hurt. If you have information that will refute the above then give it to me, but I will want verification before I believe you. It is nothing against you but against the misinformation coming from all directions.

An embassy may be closed due to blocking by Basij and police.

Let me add some commentary on this... there are three sources, independent sources reporting whether Embassies are doing this or not

BUT the fact is that we have little solid info to go by.

Just passing it along, and as usual take this with that healthy grain of salt, necessary disclaimer for some DU'ers who take themselves way too seriously.
