Poll question: What's Your Approval Rating of Congress?
No qualifiers, so don't ask. This is an overall job approval rating for Congress as a whole.

1. Cowards.
The GOP is a monolithic anti-Obama group that rejects governing in favor of gaining power and appeasing Limbaugh, and the Dems are cowards.

5. I have a list too.

Health reform, closing Gitmo, warrantless wiretapping, card check, bankruptcy bill, fisa, re-regulating the banksters, climate change and more. When the going gets tough, the Senate tends to choke.

6. So when you put the two lists together
the worst conclusion a truly objective person could come to is "neutral". Otherwise what the hell was the last 8 years?

4. Most are power-hungry cowards who are in cahoots with the corporations.
And we all know that the corporations will step on the working class if it'll give them another $1.00's worth of personal profit gain.

So, there you go.

8. Self interested scum who can occasionally get it right, but
that's mainly by accident...I find very little difference between the parties as far as ethics or morals, just a different set of talking points.

Pigs at the trough.

10. One word symbolizes their failure more than any other
Chimpeachment.

Their failure to do so amounts to being accessories to all the crimes committed by the Bush Crime Family.

And sadly, most of them don't seem to be bothered by that at all. :evilfrown:

11. Republicans are going to LOVE this -They use shit like this, saying how people hate the Dem congress
Edited on Sat Jun-20-09 06:42 PM by GreenTea
Republicans, Fox news, the pigman twist it all around and spin it, saying how the whole country hates the Dem congress, it has a very low opinion and polling is low, so of course it's the Democratic majority in congress the republicans will spin it and scream and say see the people don't want Dems to pass any liberal progressive legislation - Health Care public option...

And since congress has such a low approval rating the Dem leader must be the problem, so the republicans use it, to rally and get behind to get rid of the "liberal" democratic speaker Nancy Pelosi (or at the very least paint a bad picture of her).

the republicans have been using this kind of bullshit logic to frighten and scare democrats for years and now using it to stop the spineless Dems from passing a public option....It doesn't matter that the republicans in congress have even a lower approval rating....as long as republicans can keep congress at a low rating with the American people they can point and say see the American people don't approve of the democrats policies.

12. What's there to like?
They fund stupid wars (pick them), they sell us out on health care, etc., etc.. republics are not needed to scuttle any progressive initiatives. Congress, and yes I mean all of them, have no reason to claim a positive approval rating.

16. As this DU poll which we are talking about shows, if congress has a 21% approval rating
Edited on Sat Jun-20-09 08:52 PM by GreenTea
as it does (in most national polls) then republicans can easily point out out that Americans don't agree with democrats in congress....which congress is run by a democratic majority.

Fuck it that the republicans have absolutely NOTHING to offer....this is fucking politics and spin and headlines are what more than 80% of the American pay attention to. NOT facts and certainly most don't take the time to get in-depth with most political stories....

For the Dems to say, for example, "Congress is working on a health care plan with a public option" - The low polling of congress as the DU poll shows (and as the national polls show) - give the republicans an avenue for spin, to be able to say "but only 21% of American have a favorable opinion of congress", of course it's not addressing the actual issue it's just bullshit but that's all the republicans have right now and I don't want the lying, greedy hateful elitist republicans to even have that!

This is how the slimy republicans operate and is the point of my previous post that they will love how people despise congress (again, because the Democrats are in control) so it's democrats who can be exploited as "being" congress....If you don't understand yet, I despise ALL republicans.

13. I agree with Mark Twain's assessment:
"Right here in this heart and home and fountain-head of law, this great factory where are forged those rules that create good order and compel virtue and honesty in the other communities of the land, rascality achieves its highest perfection."

"Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself."

"Few men of first class ability can afford to let their affairs go to ruin while they fool away their time in Legislatures. . . . But your chattering, one-horse village lawyer likes it, and your solemn ass from the cow countries, who don't know the Constitution from the Lord's Prayer, enjoys it, and these you always find in the Assembly."

"Fleas can be taught nearly anything that a Congressman can."

"It could probably be shown by facts and figures that there is no distinctly native American criminal class except Congress."

"I think I can say, and say with pride, that we have some legislatures that bring in higher prices than any in the world."

"Senator: Person who makes laws in Washington when not doing time."

"To my mind Judas Iscariot was nothing but a low, mean, premature Congressman."

"I believe the Prince of Darkness could start a branch hell in the District of Columbia (if he has not already done it), and carry it on unimpeached by the Congress of the United States, even though the Constitution were bristling with articles forbidding hells in this country. . . . What a rotten, rotten, and unspeakable nasty concern this nest of departments is, with its brainless battalions of Congressional poor-relation-clerks and their book-keeping, pencil-sharpening strumpets."

"No one's life, liberty, or property is safe while the legislature is in session."
