Surely even the Basij will not grant him that.

This is from the confirmed Mousavi twitter feed

1. Mousavi is a slug. The Iranian people are too good for him
The best thing that can happen for the "revolution" is for him to not be the benefactor

4. Then why all the ardent followers? If you are correct,
this whole thing doesn't add up. The Iranian people are not fools and I doubt they would allow themselves to be manipulated by a wolf in sheep's clothing, would they?

(when we really don't know what the fuck is happening)

Seems like a pointless purpose to put your life on the line for--that being, to have a different asshole answering to the Supreme Leader in a theocracy. Maybe the people in the streets care less about a symbolic election and more about changing the entire suppressive government (some may of voted for Ahmadinejad and are seizing the opportunity). The reality is they had no good option to choose from. Who knows. If they are up in a Twitter over this dude, then their revolution can kiss off (people are dying over this shit, so it better be significant).

10. I have to agree.
The Ayatollah has played this wrongly. People will start to question the whole system.

7. No mortal can ever be perfect enough of a leader
for deconstructionists who confuse the ability to criticize with intellectual superiority.

These masses of Iranian reformers aren't necessarily blind followers. They had no more than two viable choices to rally around: either Mousavi or Ahmadinejad, just as Americans had only two options in our last election.

9. But even in 2000, we just sat in our easy chairs and munched on pizza
In Ukraine, they frigging CAMPED OUT! They took it to the streets, as are the Iranians.

2. Oh, boy. I wish he understood that, rationally, it's more productive to live for what you believe in
than to die for it. It's good to be prepared, though, I guess.

5. Within 128 characters,

to call for a General Strike if he is arrested and know that the ramifications of doing so, could be death, that message makes sense.

I think that the Protesters know that this is bigger than Mousavi now. The Ayatollah is being challenged now.
