Woman sentenced for dragging dog
http://www.oregonlive.com/news/index.ssf/2009/06/woman_sentenced_for_dragging_d.html

A McMinnville (Oregon) woman has pleaded guilty to animal abuse after she dragged a small dog on a leash behind her car as punishment., the McMinnvile News-Register reports.

McMinnville police responding to several 911 calls found 67-year-old Ida Grace Mauser dragging the dog behind her car. Witnesses said the car was not speeding, but it was traveling fast enough that the dog was unable to stay on its feet all the time.

Police Capt. Dennis Marks said the dog belonged to another member of Mauser's family. He identified it as a Lhasa Apso that suffered damaged pads on its feet and appeared to have sore legs after the incident.

A judge warned Mauser to never do it again. She was sentenced to 80 hours of community service with Homeward Bound Pets and ordered to pay $500 restitution to Yamhill County Dog Control, the News-Register said.

2. They should have taken the dog away.
People like that should not have pets. The judge was too lenient, IMO.

6. It wasn't even her dog
It belonged to a family member. Hopefully they'll keep her far away from the dog in the future.

4. That's it? She shouldn't be allowed to own pets or have them in her possession
ever again, at the very least.

5. omg that dog should be anywhere near that monster
I hope the other family members who own it ban her from their home.
imo animal control should have taken it away from them all for good.

9. Let's put a leash on her neck and start driving
Let's see how long she can keep up. Seriously, there's a reason they make bad nursing homes and I hope someone puts her in one.

11. There is a Lhasa Apso down the street from me that loves to chase cars.
I am always worried that the dog will get hurt. It is difficult to imagine someone willfully hurting a helpless animal. It never gets easier to read these stories. I have a Jack Russell and yesterday's story was very gruesome and troubling.

Seriously though, that is disgusting. I'm glad the dog is okay.
