What do you expect your government to do for you?
If you lose your job, do you expect them to help you with unemployment income until you get another job?

If you lose your home because you cannot afford the rent or the mortgage, do you expect them to help you find a place to live?

If a loved one dies, and they have no means to pay for the funeral, do you expect the government to help with the burial?

If you have no food to feed your family, do you expect your government to help with food stamps or some means of support or welfare?

If you or your family gets sick, do you expect to be able to go to the doctor or the hospital whether or not you have the money to pay for it?

Some folks expect all of the above. But it has been awhile since the government has done anything for the people. They ask you to pay taxes and follow all the drug laws. They ask you to fight and die for your country if necessary. They ask that you stand and pledge allegiance to the flag of our country. But if you get sick, sorry Jack. The government owes you nothing. Is that fair? Should we not expect more from our government?

2. If the government says "No" to us...
Should we say "No" to our government the next time their ass is in a pickle and they need someone to help invade another country??

5. i wish we could just kick them all out. i wish we could strip them of all the bennies
they seem to be more than happy to give themselves. they are supposed to represent US, not their corporate sponsors.

4. Do you think you should still pay taxes and fight for your country?
Even if you expect nothing in return? Is asking to see a doctor if you are sick too much to ask for?

8. oh i didnt say your country shouldnt do anyting for you, i just dont expect a return
as to fighting for the country, it depends what you expect back, i did a fair swap in my eyes, i served, they paid, they fed, housed, trained and let me see the world, good times and bad, i never expected anything more from them.

6. Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one.
Thomas Paine

A sentiment I fully agree with.

Alas, most people still want "leaders" rather than public servants.

7. I don't count on the Government for anything.
If by some sad event I am eligible for help, I consider it free money, more like winning at Vegas than something I am entitled to.

I go to my own resources first, then my family. Except I've never really needed help, so maybe if I was in desperate straits I'd feel like the Government owed me. Honestly I have no idea.

9. I expect all the things on your list

We're literally paying for what we get. And not always through taxes. How much money went to the candidates over a two year Presidential campaign just in donations? Billions? And what exactly are we expecting to get in return? A corporatocracy. The insurance companies choose who gets health care and how often and how much, based on the bottom line. We're not citizens. We're consumers. We're the Geese that lay the golden eggs on command and we better not ask for service because we're the servants now. Our so-called representatives live the high life sitting pompously in hallowed chambers and halls and forget what their jobs are because they're too busy holding their hands out for money and voting what their masters tell them to vote, which is also written by their masters.

10. It's in the Constitution...
...in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity,...

I expect no more and no less...

11. I have worked all my life to make other people rich.
I deserve a minimum standard of comfort, leisure, and health care as much as they deserve their fucking money.

For all we workers do for this country we deserve something back from it....

13. I expect "our" government to
protect our rights, enforce our laws, provide for our general welfare and our common defense and exhibit a decent respect for the opinions of (human) kind.

EPIC FAIL: 2001-09.

Emerging fail: 1\20\09 - 6\20\09
