sorry if it's bad timing, but these it seems like every photo I see of the Iranian election rallies, the people are just all drop-dead beautiful - the womean and men. :wow:

44. You are so right
My wife, some friends and I were in an Afghani restaurant in the part of Fremont CA known as Little Kabul and this woman walked in.
No... she kind of floaty, swayed in.

All conversation on my side of the table tapered off and 4 heads (including my wife, she's kind of a Tex Avery wolf) slowly turned in unison to watch her go by. Oh, she knew how good she looked and ate up the attention with a spoon. First thought in head was that it would be a crime against nature to cover that up.

Persians are the same way. Men and women, just a gorgeous bunch of people.

6. I never cared for nose rings and other anomalies, but like the people of India,
the people of Iran are very beautiful indeed.

Great use of color too. Black and that shade of green, and red... and tan...

(they preferred being called Persian, not Iranian) and you are correct.
Their bone structure and skin tone was perfect.
Very beautiful people.

26. There was, for a while,
a doctor who rotated through the VA hospital. She stated that she was Persian rather than Iranian and I thought at the time that she may have thought that I would somehow object to a doctor from Iran. I am glad to hear that it is a preference for that appellation.

She was also extremely beautiful.

She reminded me of someone whom I saw in Thailand years ago. A lady climbed down from a construction scaffold, undid the protective wrappings from her head, and revealed a face that would stop traffic on Hollywood Boulevard. She was that beautiful. Viet Nam also has its striking people.

On the other hand, I have known many people who would stop traffic nowhere but possessed an "inner" beauty that surpassed all outward appearance.

39. Not all of them do.
That seems to be either a generational or geographical self-designation. My former roommate was 24, a first generation Iranian-American,, identified a lot more with being Iranian than Persian, as did his Iranian friends and family. He was from LA. But older Iranians and Iran-American citizens have always referred to themselves as Persian. I'd met them in Denver, and without fail all of them had amazing stories of how they escaped from Iran after the fall.

11. No one group/people/nation holds a monopoly on beauty.
If you walked down the streets of Tehran, you'd see all the people whose photos the news-wires and sites decided not to use.

That being said, most of the people in these pics are attractive.

21. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
These folks look fine. Lots of people do. An interesting rainbow in this world. I think what you might be noticing about them is that they are overall rather young. Also not malnourished nor overnourished and with good teeth. We generally find all that attractive - good reproductive prospects, you know.

32. I thought about that.
I think another thing that enhances them is their passion about what they are doing. When a person is happy, excited or passionate about what they're doing, it does make them shine.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder-I think that might be one of the few concrete truths in this world. Embrace the rainbow!

30. Funny How That Happens, Isn't It?
As youths, we have so much clutter in our brains re: media images/aesthetics defining what good looks are, that our sense of what truly attracts us, sexually, is 80% off kilter.

35. i wonder if the photogs aren't actually attracted to more beautiful subjects...
i've noticed the same thing as the OP. seems every pic i see from Iran is filled with very pretty people. might be a bias of the photographers? might be that most of the action is around Universities which are always full of young, good-looking people. might be a bias of Americans to see other cultures as more aesthetically pleasing. i think i do that to some extent.

Glad you posted this... it makes it harder for the right wing to paint all of Iranians with a broad brush. What makes them all so beautiful, is their will to overcome "I'm-a-Dinner-Jacket" and his extremist right wing control freaks.
