Human Resources is now "Human Capital"

I learned this today in an job-hunting skills class.

Frankly I can't think of a more offensive term that doesn't involve racial slurs. It sounds like a polite euphemism for slave. An animal to be exploited for its economic potential like a milk cow or drug dog.


Workers. For a long time you were people and you got your check from the PERSONnel department. Then you became a resource to be used, and now you are capital...to be spent.

You are right, in the corporate view people are simply there to be exploited, spent, and cast aside.

That is why British Airways feels no shame in asking people to work a month a year for FREE!!
