Google Translate has just added Farsi to English to it's language list option

And facebook is now available in Farsi, also, in hopes of helping those inside Iran communicate better with the outside world.
The Google addition is a wonderful thing...I was bummed this past weekend when I went to use it on a language website to get more news and all i got was a "we don't do Persian" error.
On edit: Someone replied that it is Farsi and not "Persian"..I was using the word Persian as it is how it's listed on the Google list as well as news releases about the Facebook change.

In 2005 the Academy of Persian Language and Literature (in Iran) declared officially that "Persian" is the preferred English term.

On edit: I didn't know this beforehand, but did some searching because I would have been really surprised if Google had made such an error. BTW, I've tried the "Persian ALPHA" translation service, and it's pretty cool!

I certainly have no authority whatsoever on the matter, but I've read several books on Iran recently that referred to the language as "Persian." Maybe that's incorrect, I don't know, but I've seen it several times. Of course, it IS Farsi, but it may be a situation where there are two terms for the same thing, once more acceptable than the other. :shrug:
