‘Angel' resuscitates girl, 5

A weekend retreat turned into a rescue mission for Omaha soldier Brenna Bayliss.

Bayliss, 22, belongs to the Omaha-based 530th Military Police Battalion of the U.S. Army Reserve, which recently returned from a year in Iraq.

Over the weekend, Bayliss and about 200 other service members attended the Yellow Ribbon Program, a required retreat for soldiers reintegrating back into home life, at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center in Kansas City, Mo.

Saturday, while her friends hit the bars downtown, she was training for the Omaha Marathon. After a day of workshops, Bayliss was behind on her miles run and hit the fitness center, adjacent to the hotel pool.

Bayliss worked up a sweat on an elliptical machine. She was about to use the sauna to boost her heart rate.

That's when she heard the “blood-curdling” scream.
