7. There are protests occuring now
Continued reports of gunfire. Many families are keeping doors ajar to give access to their homes for protesters to hide in the event they need to run. Reports of another crackdown at the University and burning of the Dorms. Lots of reports of disappearances of protesters. Twitter reports of Military being called in.

9. Apparently from what I am able to learn they are arresting a lot of people
and bringing them into Evin Prison (notorious prison in Teheran).

20. join twitter and register with location as Tehran, Iran and their
time zone. Makes it harder for the authorities to find the locals tweeting about this.

Me, included. This is one of the few really helpful things we can do--reduce the danger and help keep the their communications open.

40. Sign up. Then at the next step, go to the top to settings. It will pull
up your page with details. Change the time to Tehran in the drop list. Then type in Tehran, Iran in the location. That should do it. Thank you!

3. Thanks for posting the link to that site
I've been checking there as well as being glued to the Twitter. Even though we know what is coming out on the feeds is not always reliable it's hard not to keep refreshing. The number of tweets is hard to keep up with. I've been in touch with some very non political acquaintances who are extremely frightened by the govt response to the protests. They are certainly not winning the hearts and minds of the Iranian people through their behavior. Rumors there -report that they have brought in outsiders to police as they don't trust their own forces. It's hard to know what's reliable.

10. I'm glued to the twitter myself
My friends are safe for now--at least as of yesterday evening Tehran time. They are staying in and not involved in political matters at all. I haven't had email today but Twitter is reporting that the connections are sporadic and running slow so mail is probably delayed.

12. There's an unconfirmed rumor that there are a lot of Lebanese "soldiers," though
A bunch of Baseeji-like cretins, brought in from Lebanon to beat down protesters, because even the home grown assbeaters are losing their taste for spilling blood of fellow Persians.

I don't know if it is an accurate report, but it wouldn't surprise me. Hizb'ollah knows who's driving their gravy train.

I'm also hoping they won't be down for the whole hour. Knowing the situation is critical and moving their maintenance for that reason, I bet they are working hard to complete it before a full hour.

29. If you have a spare machine or some computer skills: Set up a web proxy for Iranians.
Instructions here:

http://blog.austinheap.com/2009/06/15/how-to-setup-a-proxy-for-iran-citizens/

Bloody crackdowns are best done in media blackouts. They already locked down the MSM (not that they were trying very hard,) they shut down phones, SMS, and they're firewalling the Internet. They need web proxies to bypass the Iranian firewall, so they can still Tweet and let us know what's happening inside Iran. Sunlight forces them to tone down the Tiananmen action, so we need YOU to put up web proxies so Iranians can continue to speak out.

OH, and whatever you do, DO NOT broadcast the IP address of your proxy on Twitter - Iranian government agents are watching there, and will put your IP on their blocklists if you do that. Follow the instructions in the link.

While I'm here, here's a quick cyberwarfare guide to look at...
