Did anyone see Dr Dean say on Rachael Maddow that Obama did not know that the DOJ
was defending DOMA the way it did and that he certainly would not support the wording of the DOJ's brief?

Not that it matters to some here.

And, I like Dr. Dean alot, but he's not exactly a WH insider (alas).

using Dr. Dean as a mouthpiece and posting pretty words on obscure websites is as cowardly as it gets.

hoping for a real progressive overhaul at long last. However, it is apparent that the 'experience' argument took hold, regardless of the fact that much of that 'experience' was in compromising far too much with the Republicans.

Obama wouldn't have been overseeing those hires - his Chief of Staff was almost certainly in charge of what the President knew about hires and promotions and, yes, what he knew about the wording contained in legal briefs.

on this particular brief and its wording.

36. The buck stops here...
...apparently the buck gets passed around in this administration...and since Obama hasn't said anything about it, and Dean is speaking for himself and guessing...I'd say the guy who wrote this was pretty confident Obama wouldn't care that he included that crap.

39. The buck STOPS with Obama, certainly, but imo, Dean's right that Obama didn't see this brief and...
it's almost certain that the Chief of Staff did.

That's all I'm saying. Obama doesn't get a free pass from me - That should be obvious, by now, even though I do support his presidency.

He said he probably did not know....but that is beside the point.

There is no excuse for the language used toward gays in that bill.

None. Let's be honest...someone dropped the ball on this issue big time.

Let's stop defending that which can not be defended.

Read this:

It's a little slow loading, but keep trying.

Obama did not write the brief.

Obama does not support the wording in the brief.

And any three year old knows he didn't write it with his own hanny-hands. "Obama" means "the Obama administration", just like when we say "Bush", "Nixon", "Taft", etc we are usually referring to their administration.

Some here are failing to see the intense hurt to a group of people because they are falling over their own feet defending every thing Obama does.

And Obama is apparently in a bubble surrounded by them.

I don't think Dean spoke about innards, he spoke about caring and humanity. You just don't use those words to talk about gay people he said.

40. It's a little absurd to think that Prez Obama would personally read
the brief. He's got better things to do than micromanage that way.

On the other hand, I would have hoped that the lawyer's superior at DOJ would have had the good sense to take out all those crazy comparisons before submitting it. I'm no lawyer, so I don't know if DOJ is obligated to defend DOMA in court or not, but those words sound like a Monica Goodling holdover who wants to embarrass the President.

If Obama didn't know the DOJ was defending DOMA the way it did, and if he would not support the wording of the brief, then he can open his oh-so-eloquent mouth and say so. Until then, he OWNS this abortion. And my contempt.
