45. no, the truth simply hurts.
Obama is just another lying sack of shit politician and the Democrats ARE Repub-lite. (They have been for years actually). nybody who actually believes any politician will actually do anything to help people, and not their corporate buddies, is delusional.

Obama's talent and nothing he can really joke about like with Bush. Comedians are having a tough time with Obama, he's not a joke..

17. I don't think he's looking to Obama as a source of comedic material.
I think he's generally upset (along with a lot of us) that he thought he was getting a progressive by electing Obama and instead he's getting a lot of the same (not all the same, but a lot).

4. Or perhaps Maher is showing that he is a Libertarian
and not some democrat whose sole purpose is to bash republicans.

Maher is under no obligation to only bash republicans. He has always said that he was an independant leaning libertarian. Aren't we the hypocrites for cheering Maher on for Bush bashing and then turning our backs on him because he's sticking with his MO - bashing whomever is in the White House?

13. Maher is not a Libertarian
Despite what he might claim. Libertarians aren't pro-gun control zealots like Maher. The RKBA is one of the most important Libertarian principles. I'm not quite sure where Maher fits on the political spectrum, but he's no Libertarian.

and so is Maher and so am I.

He never signed up to be Obama's cheerleader.

And he has described himself as a libertarian:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Maher#Political_views

Just like democrats there is no one set mold of the what the members have to look like. Just because you might find ways to claim Maher isn't a libertarian doesn't me that's the hard cold facts.

27. That makes two of us
He's not trying to undermine or obliterate Obama. He's challenging him to be better and to live up to the campaign promises he made on the campaign trail. Promises that were the reason many people voted for him.

Are you saying you AGREE with all the 180 degree turns Obama has been doing since he took office?

BTW, Maher is just as put out with the Dems in the Legislative branch as he is the Executive.

31. I'm not happy with Obama on...
1) his handling of the banksters,
2) following Bush-era logic on DOMA, wiretapping, torture memo declassifications,
3) not investigating Bush era war crimes,
4) his DOJ's refusal to look into the Siegelman case and others like it
5) his escalation of the Afghan war

I supported his stimulus package but felt that it was too small and he should have started with a larger amount before whittling it down before talking to Republicans and ConservaDems.

I support his position to talk with Iran and dealing harder with Israel over illegal settlements.

While I prefer a single payer health care system, I do support his public option as long as it does not get watered down or out of reach for most Americans.

21. He raised an interesting question
How many GOP senators did Bush have in his first term, 55? Apart from privatizing Social Security, he got his crap passed, not watered down, but in its full measure, as Maher put it. With 58 Democrats, why does everything seem like an uphill struggle?

Not all Democrats are the same. We are not going to have the full slate of progressive ideas passed into law due to these differences. I just hope we make enough changes in the time Democrats have the majority they have now. Nothing gets done in an election year, and as we saw in 2006 when the 2008 presidential campaign started, 3 of every 4 years is an election year.

Bush had the backing of corporate Amerika to get his shit done.

Obama is trying to buck that head wind. I hope.

I'm not real happy with what BO has accomplished so far, and I'm disturbed over his seeming to cave to the corporate side of the aisle (R and D), but he's got more to overcome than Shrub ever did.

Obama has accomplished several of the things he promised, and I was never really in love with the HC Plan he outlined in the campaign, but I had hope of improvement. He's definitely better than the alternative that was presented to us. I still have nightmares thinking about Caribou Barbie being a heart palpitation away from the nuclear football.
:scared:

Edited on Tue Jun-16-09 05:38 PM by GreenTea
are one of those types that can't face facts...it hurts you. Hey dude, the truth hurts...but then "you can't handle the truth" so you attack the messenger who is bringing truth, saying, hey it's really about fucking time to get the fucking ball moving against these tiny minority republicans, that the Dems are always so fearful of...But then you take it personally...as if keeping the dude perfect in your mind means something??

If one isn't called on their procrastinating shit they'll keep doing it or nothing at all will ever get done and the republicans know it stringing it along...as FDR, Truman, Carter, Clinton saw on public health care and that's what's happening again...Just as the republican hated Social Security and still do they are lying, attacking, fear-mongering and threatening about Health Care public option and the Dems are listening again to this corporate little republican minority. Time to say fuck the republicans!

Worrying about the fucking republican is unbelievable stupid dumb and not insightful to go along with a now growing list of things Obama has reversed himself on and people are rightfully concerned and you criticized them because of your silly childish hero worshipping. let's kick the shit out of the republicans and bulldoze right though the just say no corporate bastards!
