Dave apoligizes and Loses and advertiser. Boycott Embassy Suite Hotels(Palin Supporters)
Edited on Tue Jun-16-09 09:00 AM by romantico
So, Dave apologizes and loses an advertiser. If we do not fight back the Freepers will continue. How many times have we contacted Rush Limabugh or Bill O'Reilly's advertisers over stuff they have said? This now will only encourage them to continue.I say we should all lash out at Embassy Hotel Suites and bombard them with calls and emails.

So, I am hoping Dave devotes a segment to Sarah every night like he did with Bush's Great Presidential Speeches.I hope he focuses JUST ON SARAH and no one else in her family. Of course, Dave might also decide to never joke about her again. It does not sound like Dave to back off and just let it go. I fear it send a message to Palin and her supporters that they now control who you joke about and what you joke about.I am going to send Dave an email suggesting that he,like Sarah Palin, milk this every night as a ratings booster. I encourage other's to do the same. I say keep the emails short but to the point!

1. I have no doubt in mind that Letterman will be looking for stories directly about Palin
and roast her for them.

2. I'd have to say no ...
and it's not because I don't support the idea. I just think of Leno who STILL tells Clinton blowjob jokes once a week. It's funny the first 436 times, but after that ....

4. Yeah, But Dave
Knows she was milking it. In her statement where she accepted his apology she said she was accepting on behalf of all women, clearly going in for the women's vote for 2012.Dave has to see her fake outrage is nothing more than being political and I do not see Dave just being okay with that. I had heard on a local radio show that Dave was trying to act nice because he would really like her to come on his show. Sarah loves the attention and if she does go on I am hoping that is where Dave crucifies her.

11. Here

Everyone should just let it go.

It was a tempest in a teapot and whoever is left holding it last looks like an ass.

We can only hope it is the freepers who will hang on to it long after it is relevant.

6. Dave
So, now we are hearing Dave has lost an advertiser and the freepers are claiming victory. This will only encourage them to continue. WHy would these people drop Dave if he apologized?

7. I say
I say lets all email Embassy Suites, part of the Hilton Hotels Corp. Since they ONLY got emails from Palin supporters, let them hear that WE will not be doing business with them. This works both ways!

8. Mr. Letterman's career and show are just fine
Edited on Tue Jun-16-09 08:55 AM by blogslut
In fact, CBS just renewed his contract.

Now, carefully read this paragraph from the article you cited:

Embassy Suites, part of the Hilton Hotels Corp., pulled advertising on CBS' site because of complaints, company spokeswoman Kendra Walker told TVGuide.com. The company was not an advertiser on Letterman's show.

This whole thing is manufactured outrage, inflamed by Governor Palin, opportunists like Ron Ziegler and that tax-evading tea party dude who built yet another website from which to bilk the rubes via PayPal donations.

Like Sarah Palin, there is no there there.

18. Wouldn't that be lovely?
I'm so tired of her being splashed all over the media every time she opens her mouth and lets another bit of stupid out.

13. Yes, and it may be the reason the company
has cut down on advertising. Anywhere.

I think Dave is great, and I'll bet he and his writers are having discussions on whether --- or when, if at all -- he should start using this little publicity hog as the butt of jokes. She certainly deserves it, but it might hurt Dave more than it would hurt her.

14. I
I find it odd that no advertiser has dropped their ads from Rush Limabugh,Sean Hanity,Bill O'Reilly, Laura Ingraham,or any Fox show or network but this company felt they had to drop CBS over this.

15. I think any advertiser who withdraws because of this is being ridiculous
Edited on Tue Jun-16-09 10:18 AM by Rob Gregory Browne
I sent them the following email:

"I'm a regular traveler and have long used your establishments. It has come to my attention, however, that because of the Palin controversy you have withdrawn your support for the Letterman Show. Letterman has apologized. That you're siding with Palin indicates to me that you support people who exploit their own kids to further their political careers. Shame on you and Palin for exploiting young children in that way. Please be advised that I will no longer be staying at your hotels."\

EDIT: I got a response. The person in charge is OUT OF OFFICE on vacation until June 23. Convenient?

EDIT #2: "Embassy Suites, part of the Hilton Hotels Corp., pulled advertising on CBS' site because of complaints, company spokeswoman Kendra Walker told TVGuide.com. The company was not an advertiser on Letterman's show."

Well, I guess I have egg on my face, then. Oh, well. But I suppose if you replace "the Letterman Show" with the CBS website, the email still holds. That'll teach me to rely on a DU post for news. I thought I'd learned my lesson about that... Sigh.

16. loved Palin's invoking of the troops in HRH's acceptance
of Letterman's thank you.

She actually thanked the military for fighting for our freedom of speech over here and hoped that freedom of speech would be used to promote respect for women (will that start with her?).

I had NO idea that was what this war was about! Freedom of speech in America? Hmmm.. Why did we have to go to Iraq to fight for that?

well, at least now we know what Bush would never tell us.

The Iraq war is not about oil, 911, or anything other than freedoom of speech.

thank dog for Palin. also, too, and there again.
