10. Joe was actually making some valid points on Palin today

so he must have been laying off the booze before air time.

Granted, he didn't say anything earthshaking but that he did say that Palin should have stopped with "I accept the apology" and thought it didn't serve her well to try to make it a "women's equality" matter or bringing the troops in Iraq into a "free speech" argument.

But it was fairly obvious (and Mika's girl power stance is totally disingenuous IMHO), and it doesn't make up for his regular raging rants. The way he shouts people down when he gets excited is just unforgiveable for a talk show host I think.

13. I agree that Joe didn't come up with any great insight re: Palin

but he's one of the few right-wingers who has no qualms about being pretty dismissive of her prospects for a future beyond Alaska at this time.

Re: Mika - Mika's aggrieved professional woman persona and her forced empathy with Palin always seemed forced during the election and it hasn't gotten any more tolerable with time. I can't tell if the admiration is a "role" or for real as Mika tended to be more critical of Palin when she'd be subbing for one of the afternoon show hosts during the election period.

14. I noticed that too.

She pretty much pulled a 180 on Palin at some point. I remember her blasting away at Palin, and then one day it was "this is sexist." I don't know if she was put in her place by the producers or was just trying to fit in with public opinion, but it was sudden and has always seemed really phony to me. Mika started out as a much more fierce and intelligent force on that show, and has gradually transformed into more of an obsequious, deferential kitten of a sidekick. It feels like a dysfunctional, abusive relationship on that show; everyone's walking on eggshells because they're scared to piss off "Dad."

For her to somewhat emulate her hairstyle is one thing, but defend her on every level like she does, while acting more & more like an airhead and abused girlfriend/spouse every day, is beyond bizarre. I can't stand to watch her cower in every way on that show and only speak up only in defense of Palin and other members of the Greedy Old Predators' party.

because she probably says "Uh" and "Umm" more than anything else on the air, except when she's reading the news.

I've never seen an act (if it IS an act) on TV in this day & age quite like hers. She doesn't appear to be a religious fundamentalist, so I can't figure out all this deference to the menfolk - although she does appear to defend Palin as a female at every turn. She appears to hold her in higher esteem than she does her own self!

What an enigma...
