Possibility? Iran's Mullahs Mismanage a Rigged Election and Fall from Power?
When you act in concert to perpetrate, facilitate and coverup a 'rigged election' there is always the possibility that if the evidence of same becomes public you will be removed from power.

Granted that the populace of Iran are in favor of a theocracy, rule by religious leaders. However, the anger toward Ahmadinejad will infect those religious leaders as well if they try to push through a rigged election.

Likely? no

Possible? yes

2. Are Iranians really in favor of a theocracy?
They don't get to vote on that. I have heard that this fundamentalist stuff is very non-Persian.

3. Nope, not this time around
If the heat got to close to the G.C. Ahmadinejad would be sacrificed or a lot of people would be arrested and killed, one or the other.

5. If you want to rig an election, you should call in the pros.
Karl Rove could have shown them how it's done...keep it close enough to steal.

7. That was the problem - it wasn't close enough to steal
They ordered the ballot boxes burned

6. Anything is possible...
...in a situation with this much flux.

It's even possible that the mullahs will invalidate the election and hold new ones under full international supervision, certified as completely fair, and still have Ahmadinajad win by a few points. Although the evidence of rigging seems pretty obvious, it doesn't necessarily follow that Mousavi was inevitably the winner. We shall see.

8. I agree the Mullahs will cut loose Ahmadinejad if they feel the threat to their power
... but their problem is the 'evidence' that the vote was stolen, and their actions that helped it happen.
