1. I know, it sucks
The kids looked at me like I was crazy this morning when I told them to put on winter coats, hats and gloves to go to the bus stop. One step outside, though, and suddenly ol' stepmom ain't so crazy, afterall. lol

2. They say chance of snow tonight in Tulsa!
I had my car's A/C on earlier this week due to the temp and humidity outside.

I hope your garden makes it OK. Is it too big to cover at night?

5. I could probably throw a plastic tarp over it...it's only about 20 x 30 feet.
Actually, I think I will do just that! :D

But if I have to replant, no big deal...been there done that. ;-)

21. Just got back from several weeks in Hawaii. Things grow there overnight in the tropical heat.

Gardening in ANY weather isn't my thing, but I do have a lot of empathy for what you are going through.

Last snowfall I remember in Boston, Massachusetts was on May 10th. We had thousands of dollars in repair from broken branches and fallen trees. I can't recall the exact year.

Now we're living in practically the same latitude -- Portland, Oregon. This location is moderated by the Pacific Ocean and spring starts (believe it or not) in February! The crocuses and daffodils were fully up the third week in February.

Things are very springy today (70s) and tomorrow; however, it will fall back into the 50s next week.

Forsythia and cherry trees are blooming; some of the early rhododendrons are out, Japanese kerria (kerria japonica pleniflora) also called "the yellow rose of Texas -- continue to amaze us. They are fully in bloom here in early April. They might even have a second bloom in September or October. In Boston, they didn't open up until mid to late June.

My husband does the gardening and I love him for it. Get out your tarp... sorry, pal.

23. Had upper 70's
here in IL last couple of weeks so I jumped the gun and cleaned out all of my flower beds, doing the happy dance that many had started to bud. THEN, as of Tuesday, we had temps down in the teens! Cold and snow through this week-end :grr: SO, Tuesday afternoon I covered everything with rugs, tarps, plastic drop clothes, flower pots, pots and pans, my rain poncho, even the wheelbarrow! Worth the effort.

Good luck!

Jenn

with water when we get our late freezes here in sunny Florida. Of course that's at the end of the growing cycle.

We have been in the 80's, now down below freezing, could be low 20's this weekend. And, yes, much has been planted in the garden. sigh.

27. Oh yeah? Tell that to my daffodils! They were in full bloom
up until yesterday, and now they have the worst case of S.A.D.(Seasonal Adjustment Disorder) ;-) I've ever seen. I'm talking about 350 plants - yesterday, they were facing the world, today they've facing the ground. My Hellebore (Lenten Rose) is in bloom, as are my Hyacinths.

29. 3 days ago? plants or seed?
plants may suffer, seed and unsprouted may not be harmed.

regardless, they'll be some hardy specimens if they do survive. I've noticed my blueberries have weathered late ice/sleet/frost/freezing temps in full bloom and have been all the more prolific those years. I think it makes them hardier to other conditions, and all the more sweeter.

best of luck, and have a little faith in nature.

31. Mostly seedlings/small plants. Some seeds too, those should be okay.
I did throw a light tarp over it which ought to help if the wind or the dogs don't carry it off. :D

30. OMG--you should see my apartment right now.
I feel like I'm living in a freakin' greenhouse. I had to pull in everything last night except my pansies (left over from the fall and fading fast anyway), and I imagine they'll be here until at least Monday. My tomatoes are starting to look bad.

However, my 2 strawberry pots lend a nice bit of greenery to my hallway. :silly:

Mother Nature sold us a bill of goods, for sure. :grr:
